| our season is pettering out no doubt and i am very dissappointed in that, but ffs we had 13 squad players out today, yes we have been poor since manchester, but i believe even with a fully fit squad we are no better than a top 6, i cant believe the usual suspects on here who appear to relish in our poor form finding no positives whatsoever in anything, well i will be cheering the lads on against rovers and even though am gutted at the way our season is going will always find something to cheer me up,even if its a bar of choccie, come onnnnnnnnnn uuuu uulllllllllllll

To be fair to Westerman & Yeaman, their injuries certainly haven't helped and they're still not fully match-fit

| I was listening to RH and a guy rang in after the game and to be honest with you I think hes quite right.
He mentioned we started great then as soon as they started with Manu/Turner leaving we have never been the same since. They should have left all that to later in the season. All the fans were devestated cos it was ages before the decision was made and surely that must have caused some distruption in the team.
I beleive in Gentle and ok tonights performance was crap but as others have said there are 13 main players out on some of the kids its their first game. It gonna be really tough till the end of this season now and I cant see us winning many more unless we get some players back and play with more passion.
Then if we are going to get new players then dont tell the fans till they have officially got them. Its not fair on us.

| I watched the game and was 'filthy' at parts of the performance but now after some thought I'd evaluate it thus,
Positives:
Cunningham/Green and to a lesser degree Crooks get valuable game time (Ben's going really well) and stand up well against a big dominant team.
No more injuries
Negatives:
Lack of communication at times among key players (halves/forwards , Fullback positioning questionable at times also threequarter(s) mainly Turner leaving flanks exposed(the combination of which led to at least 2 of their tries)
Lack of composure and ball retention (how many sets did we actually complete to a kick ? (albeit we were chasing the game most of the second half so risks were taken).
An apparent lack of Confidence/ team spirit
Reasons/Excuses:
It's ok us saying can't blame it all on injuries.Fair enough but take the first choice 1 (Mkinnon),3 (would have Martin over Turner), 9(houghton), 10(o'Meely) , 11(Tickle) and replacement prop (moa) out of any side you'd see a difference.
Anyone who has played the game knows if you loose the big/hard guys there is a knock on effect (confidence mainly).
Ok we have signed Watts and Mgoldrick but these guys go straight in to a team they are not used to(and that takes time).
Conclusion:
As really expected a loss , a little heavier than was hoped.
However if I can see some things were we were lacking I'm sure the coaching staff will have and will be working hard to patch things up.
We need some bodies and spirit back, and I think the confidence would also return then.
Wether that is going to be this season though remains to be seen.

| I've said it all season, anybody who thought we were going to transform from what we were to a top team clearly show a lack of understanding and respect to sport. Richard Agar was not the only problem at Hull, a lot of these players are too and the bottom line is they just are not good enough and some of them are not good enough for Super League IMO. As the saying goes, you can't polish a turd.
2013 was always going to be the best chance for Gentle and Pearson to start going in the right direction, that is plainly obvious with the turnaround in staff and players roster.
I am also starting to get annoyed with people saying the club are going against there word on signing England youth players when clearly they are doing the opposite. New training facilities have being invested in, contracts have being given to younger players and we have signed a few England knights players from other clubs. The club have also shelled out an alleged 40k to send a young promising 15 year old to a school in Australia to learn the "aussie way". This is the same school the likes of Rangi Chase and Benji Marshall came from.
Sure I expected us to be in a better position by now but at the same time I am not surprised we are not either. As I realize it is going to take time for us to transform and whilst they are many more fans who see the same the majority ultimately do not. Which is annoying because now we have a chance to become something big and these same fans just keep injecting negativity into the club as soon as its gone out of it.
ATEOD didn't expect a win tonight and no shame in losing to Les Cats at there home ground.

| Quote: UllFC "After all the positives and comments from Pearson/Mcrae/Gentle earlier in the season I was really positive about the clubs future. I left the KC on Good Friday seeing the team (briefly) top the table having easily beaten Rovers with a patched up team...I didn't expect us to keep in 1st place, but was confident we could get 4th.
since then it has been just about downhill all the way, and we are no better than we have been over the last 4 seasons.
I hope they have some big name signings in the bag, because otherwise all of the hype, optimism and enthusiasm from the fans that the takeover generated will fade away.'"
Exactly how I feel. Couldn't have put it any better myself!

| Gentle's comments are now on the websitehttp://www.hullfc.com/article/21749/critical-gentle-demands-more-from-his-playersrl
"“It’s a bad day at the office, it’s a shocking day at the office."
"“But you know we’ll dust ourselves off and get up for a match against Hull KR, if they can’t get up for that then we will have to give up.”
sounds like he is well and truly fed-up to me

You can't blame him really, he is used to working with top Australian international Rugby League players and not these jokers. Time and time again this season he has hinted at that, his more recent one of "I want players who want to be coached" as an indication of the problem he currently has. The only players he has who are worth working with are either leaving or left.

| Don't post much but having watched Leeds Rhinos take Wigan apart today, one thing I do know is the Leeds squad have no big salary players, they are all well paid but all play for each other not for the salary...big mistake at Hull FC to get Ellis on big salary, that was the turning point of our season

Well said. As for the result, take a look at their record this season. They've won all but one home league game, many of them by large margins, including a 44-16 hammering of Wire. They're a lot better than we are even if you discount our injuries.

Leeds have been dreadful at times this season, they played very well today...but I will not accept them being used as an example of a 'model' RL squad.
I also don't believe for one second that players like Sinfield, Mcguire and Burrow are there for minimum wage and the 'team spirit'

| Surely no-one expected a win tonight? The fact we got a team together was an achievement. It is very noticible that the team we've been putting out of late is pretty much a scratch team - particularly in the forwards.
Yes it's a diappointment to suffer a big loss, but hopefully we'll have a few back for the last few weeks of the regular season. If we make the top 8 (If rather than WHEN), who knows...
For me, the biggest mistake has been to announce departures and arrivals early in the season. Huddersfield have been in a similar situation with the departure of Nathan Brown and some players.
I've never known a season where the rumour mill has totally dominated events on the field.
My hope is that we can have a settled team next season and concentrate on our performance on the pitch.

I agree on the point of too many changes and rumours too early in the season, and think this is a problem blighting the game as a whole. Far too much attention is given to what may or may not happen next season, when it is action on the pitch now that the fans want to see.
