| Quote: Dave K. "Westerman needs to be out wide, 2nd half of the season he looked excellent there.'"
Also worth remembering that he's only two full games into a return from a protracted absence through injury. It's bound to take time for him to get up to speed.

Who wouldn't have take that before the season?
People are being too negative.'"
We may be joint 4th at present, but we have some tough games coming up and our form in the last 3 games has been less than impressive.
I have said all along that I would be happy finishing about 6th this season, so long as we are competitive come play-off time and win 1 playoff game.
I won't be happy if we limp in to the playoffs in poor form and fail to show up again, that would be no better than what we did in 2010 and 2011.

| Today showed the glaring deficiencies in the squad however I believe Pearson and Gentle know exactly what we need and will address the problems.
We are still farther on than I imagined we would be and there are grounds for optimism for the rest of the season within limits, i.e. as UllFC says, a top six finish and a long awaited play off win.

| Clueless in attack today but we are the worst attacking side in the top 8 so probably to be expected. Don't think I've ever seen a game where one side had so much field position and posession and failed to win before.
Have to say I think the dropped point today and the 2 we threw away last week may come back to haunt us at the end of the season. it's going to be a tough 2nd half of the season for us with 9 of our final 13 being away from home

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but was the final penalty given correctly? I couldn't see what happened at the time, but I've just watched the replay and there is no way that Manu played at the ball. So the offside was accidental, meaning play restarts with a scrum?

My first thought was that a siants player touched it first and knocked it on but it was difficult to see what actually happened

| Couple of referee enquiries:
Did one of Makinson's goals go through the posts? A lot of fans who had a better view seemed a bit aggrieved!
What was the decision given in the first half when Soliola tackled Russell in the air and Saints had the ball? Which I think yet went on to score from.
Not excuses or clutching straws, I am just curious if anyone knows the answers.

I didn't think it went through the posts either.
a very 'skinny' 10 metres from Allibert (for both sides) really wish the Ref's would sort this out, as players barely have time to get up and play the ball before they are tackled in some games, which stifles the rugby.

I thought he'd missed the kick TBH. Penalty was for obstruction but he was making things up as he went along. Didn't think the pass that briscoe scored from was forward either

Not a chance it went between the sticks, was a shocking decision.

He penalised Turner for blocking the runners.

I'm also curious why we didn't get a penalty for offside when Seymours kick hit Wellens 3 metres in goal then bounced out and Perry picked it up and threw it out. Alibert consulted the in-goal judge then pointed at the cross bar and gave a drop out. Baffling!
At that point it was 16 all and with that and the other penalty we're 4 up and Saints don't have a shot at goal to tie the game.

I think it was Westerman and Wellens running for the ball and he adjudged Westy was impeding Wello with the shoulders. Harsh IMO. Later in the game when Shenton broke one of their players did the same while running back but he ignored it. Lance O scored from it.

| Thanks all for the replies, I was sure it didn't go through the posts but I'm too worn out blaming inept referees for our losses so decided against another rant!
It is shocking, though, that the refs are making so many mistakes that can potentially change whole games in terms of momentum and the actual score. The sooner the RFL realise that 2 refs are better then 1, the better.

I'm all in favour of the two ref system but there isn't the numbers nor the quality to do so.

Have to start somewhere. Recruit more refs, have the 2nd ref as a rookie/part-time ref just to watch the ruck whilst the FT ref watches the offsides, obstructions etc. It has to be done, the refs have too much of an impact to change games.

| Christ, imagine having to cope with Ganson AND Alibert in the same game.
