| Quote: carl_spackler "I just don't think that competing for a final next year is such a priority that we need to make expensive short term signings. Your stance seems to see Pearson as some sort of sugar daddy who will fritter away money on unwise/overpriced purchases. All that will achieve is to quickly garner us a reputation as mugs, and clubs/agents/players will then inflate their demands to us because they'll see us as a soft touch for extra cash.
If we had a few more younger players in our pack I'd be more inclined to agree with you, but 2 year wonders are not what we need most ATM, we need more scope for continuity IMO. Tickle and Westerman are the only forwards we have contracted beyond next year, IMO we've made a right mess of things having so many players in the same positions come out of contract at the same time. Radford, Dowes (if he stays), O'Meley, and Manu will all be over 30 when their deals expire, it's more than possible that more than 1 of them will retire, and I reckon Moa is off back to the NRL. We can't possibly develop enough players in house to build a full pack in time, so we need some longer term signings.'"
We get success means it will be easier to bring quality players in when we are fighting the likes for his signature with the big clubs. If Adam Pearson can pay vast amount of money for championship players and failed coaches then Im sure the money he would ahve to pay for top quality rugby players wont bother him. And he isnt stupid if people start to take the mick he jsut simply wont buy them.
So Carl tell me what players you think we could relistically get this year for a fee?

| Someone else told me Gentle to Hull tonight, reckons Ben Galea told him, so it could just be players winding people up again.

| I can't see Morgan to FC myself, think it'll either be Agar sticking around or an NRL based coach coming over having impressed Pearson/Rule at interview.

I was sat behind the tv cameras at wembley and while they were prepping cameras etc richards gave morgan a wave whilst warming up, I'd say this was grounds for a rumour

I see what you're saying, but I just don't think that 1) Making a final is always the best way to attract players, showing the intent to build a quality squad long-term can be just as appealing, and 2) The influence of a final appearance is worth the sort of transfer fee it would cost to get someone like Andy Lynch when he'll only last a couple of years.
I'm not saying Pearson doesn't have the money, I'm saying that just because he has doesn't mean he should splash it around frivolously. He'll have a finite amount of money he's willing to invest in Hull FC, we need to use it in most effective way.

I've already mentioned Paul Johnson. If we're going to offer Bradford money I think we'd get better value out of Hargreaves or Kopczak. If you want Pearson to make a sit up and take notice signing who might prove to be worth it, have a good go for Larne Patrick. The last is probably the least likely, but it certainly would make a statement if we pulled something like that off. None of those might be as good a player as Lynch or Fielden currently, but they'd all be better value for money IMO.
We've gone around in circles on this before, the fact is we'll probably never agree. You seem to think that spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on transfer fees for good but not great players with only a couple of years' worth of rugby left in them is worth it, I don't. And I never will. For me, every overpriced pound of that money could have gone on something with longer term benefits for the club.

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

Yes but u cannot tell me in 2 years they cannot find some props to bring in to replace the old guard?
We need top quality props its no point having abundance of halfs if they cannot get the go forward from the props if we lose either Moa or Ogre to injury next season we are going to struggle. We need quality in that department with experience...the likes of a Peacock, Lynch or Fielden and with them being prop youd get them for a small fee what would be good business. The merchandise adnd passes are right up there and thats when we are rubbish can u imagine the money the club will make if there start to get to finals and god forbid win something?
Your right we probably wont agree but its fun to have a debate with you all the same
Regarding you on Manchester United look how much debt they are in but I bet the fans dont give a monkeys do u as they are winning or getting to finals.

| If it's one or two props then hopefully signing one and bringing one through should be a option but all four?
