People live in cloud cuckoo land when it comes to player salaries. Someone mentioned signing him for £80 grand. danny sculthorpe earns more than that. He'll want min £120k and can get it easily at most clubs in SL

At the right price, he wouldn't be a disaster. But what would that price be? At anything like the prices being bandied around, he'd be an expensive mistake.

As already said, £140k would be too much. However, Cusack's retiring and if we don't keep Radford we really need 2 non quota OOC props. Can someone post a list of alternative candidates that fit the bill and would be willing to come to Hull?

Love the way loads of fans know how much players earn.

Fielden is the starting prop for the top team in SL, he has been in very good form this year (read the Wigan forum for opinions of him this season), he would be a big improvment on Radford, Dowes and Cusack, so would imprve our team. Hardly misses a game and can play pelnty of minutes.

Forget the salary cap, leave that to the board, if we can afford him, sign him.

We have 2 very good props coming through the system in Aldous and Bowden, ina coupel of years one of those if not both could be ready.

Agree with all of that, it's baffling that some people on here are so against the idea of signing Fielden.

I'd be more than happy to sign Fielden for a couple of years. Considering the average wage of a 25 man squad is 64k anything around the 100k mark would be justifiable IMO.

Spot on Dave. Fielden did have a tough time for a while after the Mason incident but he was pretty good last year and has been very very good for Wigan this year. His signing would be an excellent one, bags of experience and at his age should be pretty much in his prime. Not worth breaking the bank for but if we can afford him then sign him.

I originally mentioned it about 6 weeks ago, all I heard was that we were talking with his agent about next season. No idea how close or far away we are.

Also quite a good Wigan poster mentions it on here so they may be something in it?

at the beginig of the season, it was stated on a fans forum on radio by james rule, we wasnt at full cap and that we had around 80k left, but would not use it unless we really had to, i,e injuries i guess, but because we have had reasonable cover they havent used it, so their could be more money available then what people think.

I'd be happy with the signing of Fielden , He's still got a good engine and offers a little bit more than Dowes , Radford and Cusack imo.
