| the posts on this page make me think we should replace gareth now - for the sake of next season. if we get more than one injury in the 3/4s then we'll have to keep shuffling the team around and on top of that he was a very good winger
raynor had bags of experience and as a winger that won't be easy to replace. IMO we don't need another youngster because we've got our own, and the quota is full....i would have taken jodie broughton since he;s spent so much time at our club but he's signed for someone else..

| Sad his career should end like this but the right decision. Leaves us with very inexperienced 3/4 options overall

| A shame we couldn't have made this decision earlier TBH and got on the front foot to sign a top class overseas outside back with a combination of what we will pay Moa + the difference between Raynor's salary and his pay-off. As said many times previously, this is no reflection on Moa, who I rate, but Raynor's availability issue has been on the cards for months and the balance of the squad is too light in the backs, and within the backs too light on experience. I don't think we need another Ainscough as we have shedloads of young promising backs. What we need now is a proven one in Raynor's class to lead by example and bring the young backs through, like a Senior, Gidley, Hicks type etc. Pointless bringing in another "prospect" IMO .
Back to Raynor, big disapppointment that his career with FC has finished like this. Top quality experienced player who's given us great service on the pitch and has been a cut above our other outside backs over the last 5 years. Shame he's let himself down off it.

I'd say that just about sums it up nicely Mrs B

things would have to be bad to play whiting in the 3/4's...he has no pace but a good brain and can match anyone in the tackle...but as an attacking force at centre....forget about it....

| Gutted Really, he has been a constant top performer all his Hull career.
Great defence, Great finisher, just not had the service 1/2 his hull career.
its a bit like Eastmond replacing Long, its not going to happen overnight!
Briscoe replacing Raynor is the same, although for the future it bodes well
Good Luck Gareth.

Never say never, but there are a few obvious stumbling blocks: The looming court case; his fitness or lack thereof; it isn't an area of the team that is regarded as a priority for strengthening even after the departure of Fitzhenry; whether Rovers' budget could stretch to it.
A year or two ago 'rumours of Raynor Hull KR' would have been exciting. Now I'd be pretty ambivalent. If we get injuries in the backs and he is available and fit after April then maybe, but only maybe.

I doubt they could afford to pay him anything like the £90k he was on at Hull.
I also doubt anyone would sign him without knowing whether he was going to be available after April.

He'd be easy to tackle with a tag on his leg. Trips to Catalans would be a no-no too.

| Was wondering where this whole Raynor thing was going to go, but I think it's for the best for the club. We are aiming to start a fresh with players, coaching staff and attitude from this season on, and to play a winger who has criminal history would go against all of this.
Despite this, I am sad to see it has turned out on a sour note. He has been a great player for us, when the times have been good and bad, and when fit he has shown international talent.
I think this is a good time for Hally, Brisc and Co. to show their true worth with starting places in the team.
