think bowden should be given a chance next year, how the heck are we gonna find out otherwise, he might not make it but he might well do, we have to give the youngsters a go , otherwise whats the point in bringing them through

All men are created equal, some work harder in preseason. -[i:1c45x4hd]Emmitt Smith[/i:1c45x4hd]:

Quote: carl_spackler "Really? For a young prop he's a good size IMO, he was actually our heaviest prop this year, I believe (him or O'Meley). I think it's his endurance that needs to improve rather than his size, but that's another reason he needs game time as it should hopefully improve the more he plays.'"

I say timber, I mean get stronger in general and like you say improve his endurance. Dunno why I said timber icon_lol.gif

Paul King was never the biggest but he ran his weight and I think Bowden has that potential. Green is a great prospect and huge one at that.

I said last year that I think Green has the potential to be one of the best props in our game. He's huge, has an aggressive attitude and provided he can keep improving he will be a very good player.

Three things stand out last year. The pace and desire he showed for [iTHAT[/i try. The way he stepped into the Cats forwards after Heremaia had been stamped on and his performance away at Leeds first game of the season. He was into Peacock all night and really rattled him. Not many do that.

Agree with this, has a superb physique and attitude. Hopefully can find an offload (and some support players). Exciting prospect.

He has the physique and athleticism but I've never seen any aggression. It's not in his nature and usually doesn't develop with time. He'll be average which given his size and physique will be disappointing. Bowden looks more likely to improve past green and will make a decent forward.

I think a lot of people forget Bowden is 4 years younger than Green (iirc) or somewhere near

I disagree that Green isn't aggressive. He got stuck into Peacock all night first game of the season for starters.

Green seems to have everything required to be a top class prop but for whatever reason it doesn't translate to performances on the pitch. Maybe he's a late developer or maybe it's been down to coaching so far but he needs to step up and provide some consistency IMO

I think Green is a late developer remember he was playing for Skirlaugh at 19 yrs old so we picked him up late, props tend to peak after 25 so plenty of time for the lad imo. He is big & fast and hopefully more game time will see him develop into a cracking prop. For me he needs to be more dominant working the floor and I think he can improve in this area, however my only concern is he does not display aggression and like a poster above mentioned this is innate & can not always be taught, some positions do not require aggression but a props role does imo. Hopefully he has that aggression and the more game time he gets the more confident he will become at displaying it.

Green lost faith in the game and had a few years out, iirc he was playing Centre at Cott prior to that.

I believe Josh Bowden played a lot at centre too and is the first person from our club (Hull Wyke) to gain international honours

I'm hoping having Radford as Head coach will improve both Green and Bowden. This could either one's breakthrough year like Crooks last season.
