Quote: UllFC "its not the defeat, its the manner of the defeat.

you'd expect a close contest, not to be 22-0 down at half-time with an attack that could have played for hours and still not scored and players devoid of even the basics such as being able to pass, catch and make dummy runs.'"

You'd have thought Saint would have struggled to create anything with the players they played at H/B .

We've already beat Saints with ease three times this season, so they shouldn't give us too many problems.

I'm already looking ahead to who we play next.

I speak to a lot of people in my job and chat about just about everything. Generally the convo always seems to get onto rugby and which team you support and whilst the pro Gentle crew will rubbish what I say I would estimate that 90% of Hull FC fans I speak too say the season has been poor, they have no confidence in Gentle and they feel he should go. Rather funnily nearly all rovers fans think he should stay and be given more time. More telling though is most FC fans have very little confidence in future improvements either

So whilst the cuddle crew on here may think they know everything about rugby league and Hull FC they are vastly out of touch with the vast majority of supporters of the club who have simply had enough.

Considering we overcame 3 other SL teams to reach the challenge cup final with 2 extremely difficult fixtures away from the KC to boot, who is to say we can not win 2 or 3 more fixtures of the same ilk during the play-offs??

Therefore I will reserve my judgement on the success of our season until the FULL season is in fact completed. I wonder how Leeds fans considered their season to be this time last year when finishing a pathetic 5th (and level on points with a small team like Hull) after the regular season?? They also went into the play-offs on the back of a challenge cup final defeat.

Already, before the play-offs commences compared to last season we have achieved parity with regard to the finishing position in the league table and progressed much further in the only other competition there is. That for me goes down as progress regardless of what we end up doing in the play-offs. I also hope that the young players that have come through this season continue to develop and show improvements next season along with the likes of Jacob Miller and Daniel Holdsworth, who's partnership is still relatively fresh. A couple of new players are required I agree but small steps with steady improvement is preferable to me than wholesale changes throughout the team and coaching staff and having to start from scratch AGAIN!!

The chances are in a salary capped competition we'd never dominate or be near dominating. Deal with it or off.

I disagree with posters who consider we have progressed we have not imo. It was brilliant getting to Wembley however it left a bitter taste getting nilled and I am not sure many teams could achieve that!
Defensively Gentle has improved us without a doubt however like mentioned our attack is pretty dire, I also question our recruitment, Arundle is ok but a 4 yr deal! hardly top drawer material. I am also disappointed in Ellis tbh maybe a handful of decent games and that's about it! Galea etc well enough said there.
For me I am frustrated with our lack of consistency, one week we can beat any-one then for the next 3 any-one can beat us, I simply do not know how Gentle can turn this around, it's his team & his players and it is disappointing to actually finish on less points this year.
However I would not be surprised to finish well in the play-offs as this guy has proved he can do well with trap door rugby, however nor would I be surprised to be knocked out on Friday, there is simply no consistency with the team.

Re our defence, we only conceded 6 more points in 2011 than 2013 and scored 66 more. We did get one competition point less and finished 2 place lower

Well (like yourself) maybe all these people also listen to, and draw their conclusions from GL on Radio Humberside.
