| Quote: Kosh "Part of the problem is that they have to optimise the stream so that it will play on smartphones and tablets. This results in a lower quality stream which doesn't look as good on larger display devices. They are working on improving this but there's going to be a quality compromise somewhere.
The commentary from the Wire game was really poor quality due to technical problems in the press box (interference of some sort). It was so bad that they decided to just leave it off the video. Having listened live I'd say that was the correct choice. Hopefully future commentaries will not be affected by the same technical problem and will be able to be added to the video as intended. There are also plans to add more features as you suggest.
Early days yet but still good value IMO.'"
Not complaining, especially for the price and that explains how were we spared the dulcet tones of DDD for this game.
There are plenty of ways to optimise the bit rate/stream quality based on real time connection statistics, hopefully they can gradually implement those.
It seems that take up of the service is quite high, at least from people on here, hopefully its surpassed their expectations.

They're improving it this morning so perhaps they've taken it off the website in the process.

Not sure how these things work, but is it not possible to be able to choose the quality (low, medium, high)
If they are also doing the dvd’s then I guess it would be a decent quality for large TV’s

That's possible using multiple streams, one of each quality. Something they may want to look at (or might be looking at already).

| Bit disappointing they have taken the game off, why not leave it on, and then change it for the better quality game. Have been busy all week and was looking forward to watching the game now.
Also is there a way of changing your password, I can't see an option and fed up with having to look at my email to log on each time?

| Personally I'm not too concerned by a lack of commentary....I'm sure I'm not the only one who usually watches Super League on Sky Sports with the sound on mute!
Be interested to know how many fans have signed up to this service, or what the club's target is on numbers.. For me this is a great idea as putting to one side the benefit it brings to fans based away from the city, it's also a way of tempting back local fans who have stopped attending games over the last three years and stubbornly say they aren't returning....if performances are good then they can make their own minds up watching the games in the comfort of their own homes and then taking a view, as opposed to their friends/family who still attend trying to persuade them to come back.
Hats off Clarky and Pearson!

It may be an idea to be able to purchase 'a bit cheaper' download version of the dvd, rather than have it mailed by post.
Apart from overseas, even a few of the away supporters might then buy it.

No, clarky sneaks his camcorder in under his jacket and hopes no one notices him filming it. Comes out a bit like those dodgy DVD's you buy from car boot sales but you won't notice if the quality is ropey anyway

I've heard it's built in to his Ushanka. OK at this time of year but may well arouse suspicion in August.

It'll take no time at all to someone who knows what they're doing. The club are looking into it. It'll be a question of cost I imagine.

I asked this very question on Thursday last as this made sense to me if one could download a DVD quality copy from the site late on at night so wouldn't impinge on any bandwidth (well that applies to my connection) and therefore no hard copy needed so as you say should/could be cheaper.
The reply as per my post on page 9 was"Unfortunately, there won't be downloadable versions of the game to prevent plagiarism. The DVD's will be available in store and to subscribers for those who want the added bonus of being able to watch the games through the television at home and add it to their collection"
Obviously people won't be able to copy the DVDs then and plagerism, not quite the right word but I got his drift.
