Quote: Staffs FC "Don't really give one to be honest. Yes there was an understandable 'debate' about his being signed in the first place due to the court case. Seems that others were interested in signing him so we got in first. Subsequently the guy has failed a medical and not therefore been given a contract. Rule didn't know that on the radio otherwise he would have said so there can have been no reason not to.

Funniest thing about it is not Rule on the radio but all the Mr Angrys on here being poked with a sharp stick and running around waving arms and shouting liar/disgrace etc. Fooking hilarious.'"

Spot on in all respects.

The only thing I would say is that the club could have made it clearer that Reardon was still undergoing a medical examination. That way maybe the announcement would have been less of a surprise to those who hadn't read the small print about the conditional nature of his offer.

That and the fact that I don't think we should have signed him in the first place, although I guess I can understand why we did even though I don't agree with it.

Whilst I understand people's reaction's on here I do think come of the posts are way over the top.

We needed some cover in the backs, specifically at fullback and we took a gamble on Reardon. Okay it has not turned out the way the club would have liked but it has not cost us anything financially.

Rovers fans will jump up and down no doubt but thats their sad nature and obsession with us but the way I see it is why tried to bring a player in and it didn't work out.

Failed a medical my ars3. The club got rid because there is a strong chance of a custodial sentence and I think the board have made monkies of themselves far to often. I also read that the club are looking for a replacement. Why don't they try and poach Ronald McDonald or Hamburglar.

I do think the medical has been failed and the board have jumped on it quickly as they've realised the cock up in signing him in the first place.

For the first time ever I'd rather read a Crocker thread, as this is just embarrassing!

There was a strong chance he'd go down when they signed him though so that theory is out the window.

I reckon the announcement was released sharpish to get it out of the way before Reardon was sentenced today. If he had been given a custodial sentence and THEN we announced his release on medical grounds it would have looked even worse.

Several of our current squad would fail a medical right now but they are given rehabilitation. The board have come under criticism and needed to try and save face. If Readon is given a custodial sentence tomorrow how would the club react to having one of their players sent to prison. Maybe its me but i have no trust in our board at the moment. This story stinks of a cover up.

Why give rehabilitation to a player who has been brought in to cover players who are already in rehabiltation??

Seems to me Rule is just a messenger boy and he never got the message about readon until after the show. icon_lol.gif

Lets be honest, in the "could have looked worse" category, its like chucking a cup full of water off the Titanic " 'Cos that icebergs looking dodgy Captain"! icon_ask.gif

Strange things are happening at our club..very strange goings on eusa_think.gif

Don't tell me - you think the Moon landings were faked, don't you?

Reardon was brought in because we needed cover [inow[/i, not at some undetermined future date. His contract was conditional on his full recovery from his Achilles injury for that very reason. A thorough medical exam was ordered for that very reason. He failed it. The results came in last night while Rule was on the air. His contract was terminated automatically by his failed medical and the announcement rushed out in order to [iavoid[/i looking like a reaction to any sentence he may receive today.

But you carry on with your conspiracy theories if you want to. icon_rolleyes.gif

Quote: Monko "Ask the board not me. I wouldn't have touched him with a barge pole in the first instance.'"

Me neither but the only reason he was brought in was to cover the backs if he cant do that why keep him?

His contract was subject to him not getting a custodial sentence and passing a medical.

The club didn't need to make up an excuse about an injury if he got sent down.

Some more info regarding his release here
