Gentle was given the boot and had us playing argueably better rugby and at least didnt fill the 19 with players for the sake of it he actually brought in the younger players that play the positions we were light in.
I think alot of blame has been laid at Gentles door over not giving youth a chance when in fact it can be argued he put many of the young fringe players in the 17 when we had injuries & suspensions and the club have seen the benefit of this with Lineham, Shaul and Crookes before the club seemingly binned him off.'"
I think gentle played miles better rugby. had some enjoyable nights watching fc under gentle. 2 6th finishes a cup final and we were heading in the right direction under him...if its true he had players on big contracts, what does that matter?! if we were playing well getting better etc

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| Quote: Doc Brown "I recall a certain Ben Crooks playing 80 minutes for the U19's against Bradford a few years ago and then lining up for the senior squad straight afterwards so I'm sure it's possible they could be called on to play on a Friday night and again on the Saturday if necessary. And the U19 player that has been selected has been selected to replace an injured player, not a dropped player. Which is what has caused concern. Nobody criticised last week by Radders has been dropped. The only player dropped from the squad wasn't even involved in last week's performance.
As Carl Spacker said, our selections don't seem to be based on performance but more on who is considered to be an established player. So it seems that regardless of how certain players perform each week they'll be straight back in the team the following week.'" Radford only mentioned Sneyd and Price by name, so you would have dropped them?

I would drop any of the six or seven players regardless of whether he named names or not. If they don't put in the performance he expects of them as coach then they shouldn't play.

Totally agree , Disappointed not to see Naughton .

So who do you play, bearing in mind that Ellis, Westerman, Paea, Green, Bowden, Lancaster, Hadley, Logan and maybe others, aren't available?
Or, to put it another way, take away 7 players from "Abdull, Cunningham, Houghton, Howarth, Lineham, Michaels, Minichiello, Paleaaesina, Pryce, Rankin, Sa, Sneyd, Shaul, Talanoa, Thompson, Tyson-Wilson, Watts, Whiting, Yeaman" and fill in the gaps.

| What we seem to forgetting here is that the 6/7 players not pulling their weight was another one of Radford's made up excuses. So whether they should be dropped or not is irrelevant. They don't exist.

My Aussie mate in Brisbane is fully aware of it. I Imagine FC are aware, but I also think it is probably not that serious

I'm not the coach and I do not know, nor pretend to know, who those six or seven players were. But in his own words he did say "We are not a good enough side that we can afford six or seven blokes to toss in a performance like that and expect to come away with a result." so he clearly felt that there were six or seven players that let him down. And yet they all appear to be in the team again.
However, if I did know who those players were then I would call up their equivalents from the U19s or any first team players fit but not in the squad (such as Naughton).

It all depends whether dropping 6 or 7 players (assuming Paea and Bowden weren't included) would still win the match against Salford. I would have my doubts.

I'd go...
Rankin
Lineham
Michaels
Talanoa
Shaul
Pryce
Sneyd
Watts
Houghton
Thompson
Sa
Minichiello
Abdull
Cunningham
Feka
Tyson-Wilson
Whiting
Edit: Whiting for Howarth

| The point isn't that he hasn't dropped all 6/7 players he alluded to, it's that he hasn't dropped any of them and the message that sends out. If he doesn't have the troops to drop them all, fair enough. But don't bleat on about your players letting you down if you're then not prepared to take action against [iany[/i of them.
As well as Naughton, why not give Turgut another game? Might have made some errors when he's played, but he also did some good and how else will he learn or the coaching staff see if he improves in a match environment?
By my reckoning, we have options available to remove a player from any position on the pitch from last week's 17 should we wish to (albeit no replacement option at hooker, because we've been playing all 3), so if we don't remove anyone it's pure and simply choosing not to.
