I understand clubs want to get as much money in as quickly as possible but in the current economic climate it will always be a struggle at this time of year, summer holidays just over and christmas looming, and a lot will just not have the disposable cash for such a big outlay (especially families)
I know at Rovers we have had Oct deadlines before and I'm not sure they've been overly successful and have been extended on at least one occasion. this years deadline of 26th dec and the option to pay installments seems like a decent compromise and allows people to get the Christmas shop over with before the outlay.
Looking across the whole of RL I think pass sales will see a downturn especially as the governing body don't seem to have a clue what the seasons going to look like going forward.

I expect the world cup will effect a few peoples spare income as well.

Think people have to realise that people currently do not have the same level of disposable income they had before as everything is going up in price and many people are not seeing the same rise if any at all in their wage/salary.
So even if some want to renew they simply may not be in the finanicial position to be able too.

Also I think the RFL is partly responsible for it too for the way the sport as a whole has been poorly promoted for the last few years and the uncertainty regarding the SL format for next season could also be an issue for some.

We are not alone though as the NRL have also reported that attendances are down there this season and looking at some of the fans responses many are similar to us both in terms of product on the field being sanatised, the cost of a ticket, cost once in the grounds and also the cost of living going up meaning less money to go around.

Fact is financially for the average person they are finding it harder to makes ends meet and essentials come first before luxuries.
