| I've been in the pro Radford camp for a long time but I do feel he has taken us as far as he is likely to. He is clearly at a loss as to how to deal with the lack of consistency in our performances. He has been unable to instill the winning attitude in the players who are too quick to chuck in poor performances when it suits. I'm all for honesty but coming out in the press and saying you don't know why they're inconsistent and don't know what to do about it is like lighting a firework and hoping it doesn't go bang!
Radders will always be a hero in my book. 2016 saw to that but I do think we need a change to make it to the next level. You can't just by a load of new players and expect that to solve your problems. Even if it did all that does is highlight the mistakes in previous retention.
Holbrook at Saints has had a visible impact on the players. They have developed both attitude and performance under him. Swap coaches and within six months you would see the impact each had on the other side. Regardless of what happens during the rest of the season, I'd like to see a change of coach for next year. He's had a good crack and achieved the Holy Grail for Hull fans but it's no different than keeping hold of players for too long. It catches up with you.

Don't doubt it to be honest. I just hope I'm wrong and next season doesn't prove to one too far for him.

| As there ever been a defeat this season, where people haven't wanted to strip Radford of his employment?
I can guarantee that we could get Craig Bellemy as coach, and if he lost a game, people on here would be calling for his head.
I think you just need the excitement and drama of coach changes.

Fair points indeed. Our coaching set up is very parochial and I do think Radford & Last would benefit greatly by bringing someone in from outside the area (even just in an advisory role).
The difference between good and bad performances under Gentle was one of the reasons given for his sacking.
Radford & AP both said it wasn’t acceptable & would be something that would be rectified.
Here we are in 2019 and I would say the margin between good and bad performances are much greater then before.
LR openly admits he doesn’t know why or how to fix it so do we just wait and see if this issu just magically goes away? It won’t so will continue to be an issue.
I’m not advocating sacking LR but I do think some serious thought needs to go into getting some help for the both him & Last to freshen up things and solve the great good/bad divide.
Though as has already been alluded too it may well be simply mental issues as the team have shown they can score and also defend very well indeed but too many times it seems to all go out the window and they revert alarming defence and poor execution going forward.

For every Holbrook there's a ragbag of new Messiahs who achieve nothing - Furner, Stone, Cunningham, Sheens, whatever, blah, blah, blah. If the silver bullet coach were such a simple option to solve all ills AP would be all over it.

This is definitely one of the problems with bringing in a new coach. Sometimes better the devil you know. When you're not scrapping to avoid relegation or similar it's a tough decision. I just think the club need taking to the next level now and I'm not sure Radders can do this.

2017, won the cup, 3rd in the table, and minutes from the grand final, beaten by the eventual winners.
2018, going along OK, then hit an injury crises, season over.
2019, In the Cup semi final, 3rd in the table. Still on course for the double.
We're competing at the very highest level we possibly can under Radford.

True. Not loads of coaches in SL who've won more than Radford at their current clubs either. You'd have to have someone with a very good track record to justify the risk. When you've been in and around the top 4 (broadly) for 4 seasons and made the cup semis in 3 of them, and other teams can afford marquee players and bigger backroom staff, there would be a risk of going the other way, arguably.

As I've previously stated I'm happy to be proven wrong, in fact I'd be delighted but we haven't improved since 2016 & 2017 and our performances are very erratic. If we don't pick up the cup or make the Grand Final things start to look a little different. It's then a little late in the day to start making changes with the pre-season weeks away and a squad in place.

There's 11 other clubs that all want to be competing for the trophies too, just be happy that under our current coach's regime, we're doing it on a regular basis. We have no given right to be doing so.

| Success means pay rises for players, Players like Sneyd, Connor etc will probably be on double what they signed for, this means it's harder to recruit and other teams can offer more etc.
That's why over the last 5 years no team has been consistent, look at Leeds, Warrington and Wigan, all had poor seasons after good ones, this is what happens in a salary capped sport.
Ouf of the last four seasons including this one, we have had one bad season, even then, most was down injuries and even then unlike other teams we avoided them middle 8's.
I think we are going in the right direction with recruitment fifa next season, which should see us improve and challenge again
