Was fantastic last season, thought he was captain in waiting. Disappointing this. Been good overall over five years but not outstanding.

Quote: unknownlegend "I heard this morning (from a usually reliable source) that he has been asked to find another club. Not popular with the team and bad attitude.
Remember the cup game v Leeds when Westerman made mistake after mistake. Normally you see other players offering support, but Westerman was pretty much ignored. Spoke volumes.

Born Black and White Die Black and White Hull will give us a tough game but the key is to silence their fans in the Threepenny Stand. We have to do this because if we do'nt they will get behind their side and lift them in a way you've never seen, heard or witnessed before. Agreed.
Maybe a move would be good for the lad.
If we are talking of players going because they have been disappointing,we could shift half of them out.
We keep hearing rumours of off the field incidents, but at the moment that's all they are, rumours.
Perhaps his "not kicking on" says more about the coaching set up we have had over the last few years, rather than the player.
As for being overweight, he isn't on his own there, yes that's part down to the individual but also down to the coaching/conditioning/nutrition set up.
As someone said on here earlier,he is a Marmite kind of player.

On about extending his contract in the HDM. Bit surprised about that tbh.

westerman has had an injury disrupted season so he was hardly likely to be as good as last year. Not sure our current structure suits his style of play but you can't criticise his application in games. Puts in plenty of effort and does a good shift in defense every time he plays. Like all of our back rowers he struggles with fatigue because the coach insists on overplaying him week in, week out and hopefully this will be addressed next year when we will likely have a couple of back row options on the bench.

I for one hope westerman stays but he needs to grow up and knuckle down otherwise he'll be another in a long line of players who have never reached their potential

Rumour has it Rangi Chase is now available on a free. Hypothetically (I think we've spent up the cap already) would we want him? Trouble causer who's inconsistent, but at the same time it's excitement and flair that we lack, and no one else in the league offers what he does when he's in the mood and you'd think he'd have a point to prove after this Salford fiasco.

No. Aside from his issues I think we need a more controlling general type half to complement Sneyd's more off the cuff style.

Sneyd's more off the cuff style?
Sneyd so far has been very run of the mill. He's disappointed rather than pleased in more games than not and off the cuff is not how I'd describe him. His odd moment of skill is currently outweighed by his poor play in my opinion.
Rarely takes line on, hit and miss kicking game and some of his passes have big red crosses on them and often takes the wrong pass option.
For me Chase if he can be controlled is a must.
He's unpredictable exciting and has proven he can win games on his own. Yes he has issues but surely he must know he's now in the last chance saloon and I think he'd compliment our forwards.
If financially viable I'd snap him up.
I'd also if possible consider cutting Pryce lose from his playing contract to replace him with Chase.
Pryce with his experience would be ideal on the coaching staff and would bring far more than currently offered.
All conjecture of course and simply my view.

Salary would be the problem with Chase
Apart from that straight swap for Westerman

IMO Sneyd is more of an individualist player than one who controls a game through measured long kicking and structured plays. We are more in need of a Brough than a Chase IMO.

"My style is off-the-cuff rugby, I enjoy not having too much of a structure when play breaks down that's what I enjoy," added Sneyd.

Not convinced by Sneyd, another on the list of reasonable players we have who don't change a game. That said I don't think ditching yet another halfback at high cost is the answer at the moment either, I think we have to stick with what we've got.
