Cookey says that Agar is 'one of the best coaches he ever played under'. Bizarre really since he only played under him when he was the assistant coach. I also don't buy all this stuff about the board not backing him. He brought in the likes of O'Meley, Long, Fitzgibbon, Gleeson and was also allowed to pay transfer fees for Westerman, Obst and Tansey. Ask Peter Sharp if he had that kind of backing and four years to try and get the job done!

He also said he never got the backing from the fans!!! We backed him to the hilt for at least 2 and a half seasons, then it was obvious he just was'nt up to the job. Think he is just having a dig and I don't think he likes us finally getting our house in order. To$$er!! icon_mad.gif

Quote: black and white "don't see why people hate cooke so much he was a class player for us and went to rovers took about 500k from them only performing in the derbys making them look very foolish. as for the mum thing thats awfull my condolences go to his family
Ok, lets get this right, our inept CEO fails to get the key play maker to sign a contract allowing his to walk out and join our bitter rivals for whom he then shines on a monotenous basis against us. And its THEM that look foolish????
icon_confused.gif

BTW, its closer to £300k rather than £500k icon_wink.gif

Lets put it this way,if "Agar" was a show on Broadway, and the paying public didn`t go to watch it,then it would soon close down.No difference us paying to be entertained at a show or a rugby game.

Does anyone actually read this drivel? He's hanging on to "stardom" by the skin of his teeth, still massaging his over inflated ego.

It is true, although the board brought in the likes of players you mention, Agar targeted other players and the board refused, believe it or not Agar worked on a tight budget for a club our size.

Dear Paul Cooke - I have just been on Leeds Forum and they are even quoting Richard Agars abysmal record. Get over your self -Hull Supporters have as much opinion as you have. Next weeks instalment should tell us how long your old buddies were going to carry on before we saw something to excite us. Let the good times roll.

One thing does appear to be consistent, though, the players - past and present - unanimously seem to give him great raps. Even Briscoe's article in the Mail tonight lauded Agar and - to my eyes - seemed a bit sniffy about "the new coach"

As for Crooke - the audacity! Claiming McRae had a cheek by being in the stands at Friday's match and taking notes!!!

Hands tied behind his back by the old regime? The same regime that oversaw coaches finishing 7th, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 3rd, 5th, 2nd and 4th in the 8 full seasons before he took over. Winning a challenge cup and appearing in a Grand Final.
Also, if the board were messing him about regarding recruitment and retention it only shows weakness on his part and adds credence to the notion he's a yes man tbh.

I did think that sounded odd, tbh.
