I said that? I never actually meant you specifically Kosh, the thing is there is a tendency these days to knock Yeaman and like Baldy said when he doesn't play we miss him. He has faults in his game yes but still does a good job on limited service.

IMO his faults outweigh his strengths ATM - and for the last several seasons. We miss him because we lack options at centre rather than because of his quality per se. The service thing is a slight Red Herring as well IMO as he fails to make the best of what service he does get and almost aggressively fails to back up breaks.
Anyway - I didn't intend to turn this into any kind of attack or even critique of Yeaman. I'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunities to discuss his performances next season.

Each to their own opinion but we missed him in the Rovers game badly imo. He and Berrigan would provide a very good centre pairing. As I said he has faults but we very rarely give him the ball in any kind of space. His support play is his worst attribute but other than that he does a good job.

I've already said I didn't want to make this a thread about Yeaman's shortcomings, but since you asked...
Doesn't back up.
Not alert to opportunities.
Rarely puts his winger away.
Not fast enough.
Not tall enough.
Doesn't have good hands.
Rarely creates opportunities himself.
Shoots out of the line for a big hit and misses a little too often for me.
Can drift out of games.
On the flip side...
Can run some good lines.
Difficult to put down.
Deadly on the end of a short pass near the try line.
Generally sound defence with the exception noted above.
I actually like Yeaman. He comes across as a good lad who is very dedicated to/passionate about the club, and has some good facets to his game if used correctly. I just don't think that he is, or will ever be, a top class centre.

Well you must have had a limited veiwing of him....yes he has faults and will never bea Barnett snr but he isnt as bad as what you make him out to be......he will never be a creative centre...he isnt built for that,he is a crash centre and a bloody good one as well "IF" he gets the service...something he hasnt had since Cooke legged it......like most things in our team..we dont play to his strengths.
May be a waste of time typing this as your opinion counts and you seem to dismiss others.

Possibly you could point me to where I've 'dismissed' anyone's opinion of Yeaman, or presented my views on him as anything other than my opinion?
I agree that he's a good 'crash centre'. I also agree that we don't play to his strengths. That still leaves too many shortcomings IMO. Centres should be more than just short-range threats on the end of a crash ball - that's what second-row forwards are for.

Short range......seen Yeaman go in from distance a few times and he isnt as slow as some think.
I meant your views overall....i rember my thoughts on the play-off defeat and Saying long was in Dobsons back pocket and the reasoned debate of you was....whatever and a threat of a ban.

| Yeaman as a youngster was a very skilful strike player in the academy, he was given his debut under McRae and was too small and not strong enough at SL level, he bulked up a bit and came back strong enough, because of the players we had he played a bit of back row and bulked up further, a bit too much in my opinion, playing outside Cooke he ran good lines and with his strengh and fend scored a lot of tries and was very effective, without that quality service I don't think he offers too much else though, he is still a decent player but I don't think we will ever see him regain his form of 2006.

Doesn't back up. Don't think we've made enough breaks to judge this for the last 3 years. See 2005/06/07 for counter argument.
Rarely puts his winger away. Rarely gets an opportunity too, also think Briscoe's awareness with the touchline has a lot to do with this. Not fast enough. Wembley 08? Among others. Not tall enough. Is Gidley?Doesn't have good hands. Would probably agree
Rarely creates opportunities himself. He's not that "type" of centre, as you've said. Neither does Senior tbh.
Shoots out of the line for a big hit and misses a little too often for me. Way too much is made of this it doesn't happen as much as some like to think At least he's decisive with it and can really stop a move dead doing it. Better than being half and half and flapping like a windmill as Hall used to.
Can drift out of games. He carries the ball up once almost every set. It's our, seeming, unwillingness to get the ball out wide that creates this "illusion".
On the flip side...
Can run some good lines.
Difficult to put down.
Deadly on the end of a short pass near the try line.
Generally sound defence with the exception noted above.

Doesn't back up. Agreed
Not alert to opportunities. I don't understand this comment
Rarely puts his winger away. True to an extent but Briscoe needs to run better lines too instead of just staying wide
Not fast enough. Gone the full length a few times
Not tall enough. Lost me
Doesn't have good hands. He can pass and catch. not outstanding but certainly good
Rarely creates opportunities himself. He could do this more often I agree
Shoots out of the line for a big hit and misses a little too often for me. Hits far more than he missesCan drift out of games. So does every player in RL

I still think Hall has the skill set to be a top class centre. What's let him down is mental toughness. I guess we'll see if he ever overcomes that and realises his potential.
As to your other points, we'll have to agree to disagree. Yeaman may yet prove me wrong and become the centre we've been lacking since Barnett Snr retired. I personally doubt it but I guess stranger things have happened.
