We're gonna get the same crap offered as that poor fool they tossed to the baying crowds today uttered. They played the "equal tenants" card by offering Nick Thompson as the spokesperson for Hull City - the other tenant. As if they thought we didn't realise the SMC is also City's owner. Patronising fools.
He was told what to say. As if we wouldn't realise the "brand new charge" implemented for both clubs' pictures is only in effect realised for one club, and that we'd swallow the "training has been refused for City too" argument as if it bore any comparison to one bloke practising kicks for 10 minutes. Even tried to say that it was a pitch protection issue. Poor man.
Time for us to make our voice heard properly, or this will raise it's ugly head again and again until Allam wins and we are homeless. Here's a strange and coincidental thing.
From 2001 to 2010, the SMC posted a cumulative profit of £42k. I think a small dividend is payable from the SMC to the council on this, but am not sure.
In the last 2 years, the SMC has recorded losses of £326k and £409K. Wow.

A bit random, but does anyone know how come Hull Wasps basketball ended up moving from the Gemtec arena to Ennerdale. I seem to remember it was something to do with punitive increases in rental, but can't remember.

The argument about it being a "modest" fee for City is just rubbish too, the money involved in football, even at Championship level, is completely different to Superleague budgets. Whats "modest" for City could be excessive for Hull FC.

Any sane businessman would surely be looking to divest himself of such a loss-making enterprise?

Why would he - it has losses that are high, but in its last accounts had £1.2m in cash in the bank - mind you, most of that was probably FC's season pass income from last year. |
