| Can’t quote Collywobbles but agree with him to a degree. We are now in games with some hope. Given our position a few weeks ago we now go into games with a chance- we now have a new coach coming with some decent new players and we have some young talent. Many just like to see negatives - DH past it, Grixs odd decisions - a championship coach, why is Lane picked, Huddersfield crap too bla, bla. There’s some scope for criticism clearly and that’s fine but balance with positives too? Glass half full would give a better Hull FC world. The club are trying to up their game fans could too, imo

| Has Grix steadied the ship though? We've played London, Cas and Hudds in our last 3 games and have been the second best team in all 3 games.
Grix was doing all the field sessions under Smith so it's just a continuation of what has gone on under the previous coach.

cartoons/WB17.gif I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.
Money doesn't talk it swears, Obscenity who really cares, Propaganda all is phony.
I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

| In recent weeks there has been an improvement in effort and endeavour (as there was again last night), the players are now at least looking like they mean it, so we have made progress in that area since the first couple of months of the season.
I think we now have another problem to add to our long list of faults and inadequacies, we have simply forgotten how to win. Huddersfield didn't look that much better than us throughout the game, but apart from the last two minutes I never had the feeling we were going to turn it around.
I reckon these endless defeats have knocked so much stuffing out of the team, that there is now an in-built expectancy that we will ultimately lose in the end. The last three games (London, Cas, Huddersfield) have all been potential wins which have ended in defeats. I think losing has now become an embedded state of mind as much as any of our other myriad deficiencies.
It's one of the major problems teams have when they find themselves in a situation similar to ours right now, how do you break a losing mentality? Not sure that Grix and Cummins have the capabilities to alter that type of mind-set if it is subconsciously buried deep within the players psyche.

| Can't quote you BP1 but I agree with you saying we've forgotten how to win. Hudds were there for the taking last night, they haven't won at home all season (apart from v us in the cup) and if we'd have won, their coach would likely have been sacked. It's like what the sky commentators kept alluding to, we just seem to be grateful to get to the end of the set and putting a kick up...there's no thought as to what the kick will be, will it be a grubber, a 40/20, a chip, a bomb, target a certain player, it just seems to be get to the last play, kick it up in the air, try not to concede on the next set, do the same again...with a bit more thought and creativity with the kicks...we could've won last night

| We don't look like there is much being done attacknwise in training plus our confidence is gone and there is a real lack of basic skills in the team meaning we're slow and ponderous. When we do try something it invariably ends in an error

| Think we've shown the last couple of weeks that we have some fight in us. Problem with the Cas game is that we left it too late and with too much to do. Last night we came out firing at the start of the second half and had we not bombed some of those chances, coupled with the late flourish, we would have been looking at a win in my opinion. If we can harness that better over the full 80 minutes then, dare I say it, I think we can beat Leeds in a fortnight.

| The teams confidence is pretty much shot. Whilst I know we are all sick of the excuses given the attitude of some fans cannot be helpful

| Whilst I don't like to see the negativity in the fanbase (and worse) nor do I like feeling negative myself, we seem to have unfortunately entered a vicious circle (one that's been brewing and building up for years) in that the team needs a boost from the fans to give them confidence but the fans need to see something from the team to generate that boost.

| Watched the game again last night, actually on 2nd viewing with beer and emotions I thought we played pretty well, better than the last few games amd has we played like that against Lomdon and Cas we would have won.
Didn't get much off the ref, think our first penalty was 60 minutes and 6 again 70. Also lost our left hand side and played the 2nd half with Lane and Litten.
Not much between the two sides apart from patience, they built pressure, forced repeat sets whilst we went all or nothing.
Ese Ese was outstanding, thought Aydin, Sao and Scott played well too.
Moy is very lively and with the right coaching and S&C could be a good SL player.
Think our attack whilst not perfect has improved with Trueman and Reynolds.
As mentioned in another thread for the right price I'd keep Reynolds as a back up next season.

I think generally you’re looking better under Grix than under Smith. Apart from his first game, when he’d had least time to implement anything new and you were playing one of the very best teams, the score lines have got a lot more respectable.
London played with energy and implemented a decent game plan against you. Cas just looked a bit better than Hull for most of that game and the rubber band effect on the final score probably slightly flattered the B&Ws. The comeback against Hudds though meant the score ultimately reflected the general parity of the contest.
Deakin, Hudds hooker, was playing just his third senior game and is regarded as long-term project… but in fairness, you outscored them when he was replaced by Golding. If a couple of passes had stuck, it could have been a different result.

I think you'll find we're the worst team in the league, we'd find a way to lose to ourselves at the minute

We haven’t had much from the refs for weeks, but it’s hard to scrutinise the refs when we’re playing so poorly ourselves.
We had one pen vs Cas all game for crossing, too. Think we have at least 6 away?

We've improved in that there is a little more energy and commitment about them in recent weeks (the London game excepted!!). They have at least looked interested over these past few games, looking like it means something to them rather than some of the passive displays we were witnessing earlier.
But this still doesn't eradicate the fact that this is a poorly-recruited, badly-coached team who have had virtually every ounce of confidence knocked out of them by a horrendous run of defeats. I said earlier in this thread that this team have now simply forgotten how to win and are expecting to lose even when they dig in and give it a go. Confidence, especially in a sporting environment, is an elusive quality, and unfortunately it disappeared down the plug-hole for us at the back end of last season.
Maybe if we can scramble a win from somewhere, the situation may alter a touch, but until that happens we have no idea of knowing. The upcoming fixtures don't look too appetising from our perspective so we may not find out on this score!
We have improved in recent weeks (marginally) even if it's just in the area of attitude, but that improvement is set against a very low bar! I'm still fearful of what may happen when we meet the better sides in the league, think we may still have a couple more hammerings to endure before the year is finally done with.
