Maybe he hacked Pearson's voicemail.

I think it's the old 'you daren't say it to their face in case they punch you, so you don't have the right to say it'.
I've never been quite sure of the logic to this, as surely if the only response somebody could come up with is to resort to physical violence, then it means that they can't refute what you're saying, and therefore suggests that you're right?

Is that the way this will play out? That Radford will be immune from criticism because none of us are hard enough to win a bout of fisticuffs with him? As you say, it's a weird position to adopt.

| Quote: World of Redboy "Pearson said that Wembley was unacceptable.. Gentle said after Wembley that he thought after the way they played in the first half that they couldn't play any worse when in fact they did and when they played wigan the following week they would you the wembley gameplan as the players jsut didn't follow it. So radders as you were the assistant coach, is that true and if it is why did they ignore it. Are they just thick or was it too complicated?. As they played even worse second half, did you say anything to the players at half time? If you did, it certainly didn't work, so why should the players follow anything you say now that your head coach?'"
I doubt assistant coaches have much influence once a game has started.
They are "wired up for sound" during the game and pass on instructions from the head coach, who can hear everything that is being said.

Not sure. I think the other thinking appears to be that because none of the players can beat Radford at fisticuffs either, they'll be so awesome we won't have to criticise.

Flawless reasoning, that. Though it does make you wonder why he didn't just threaten to pummel them all this year before it had to cost Gentle his job.

| Not blown away by the appointments but I'm willing to give the new coaching team a chance.
I always thought Radford would make a great coach, whether his appointment to the Hull job is a few years too soon remains to be seen.

| Apologies if already posted, but this is the worst news I've had all day:
"Congratulations to Lee Radford for getting the Hull job and well done to Adam Pearson for making the right appointment!"

It's pathetic and worries me more about this appointment than anything. Not sure which is worse - that Radford thinks that it's any way to motivate elite athletes or that pearson agrees.
wire, leeds and wigan have a winning culture about the club, they don't (and can't) frighten players into playing well.
Who the fook would sign for a club who are shouting from the rooftops that they will be managed by fear? It's like going back to the 19th century

Why has everything got to be so ridiculously exaggerated?
Pearson actually said "...who can instil a little bit of discipline and fear". Not quite the same emphasis.

Can't imagine it will do much for morale especially when things are not going well.
The best way to put some fear into them would be to sack 2 or 3 of them now. Lets see if that encourages the others.

Oh sorry, so they only need to be a bit scared then? What like a broken finger instead of an arm if you don't play well?

They could mean fear of anything. I'd like to think we could instil a culture where a player's own personal pride would make them fearful of letting themselves and their team mates down but I think it's just fear in the sense of being bawled out by some coach who could beat you up if he felt inclined
