| I'd rather have a top class coach than a top class 7 in all honesty.

| Lets get real here. we lay in 7th place, which looking at the teams above us, is about where we deserve to be. Maybe even a place or so down in 9th or 10th.
Those teams above us are better sides then we are, so deserve to be above us.
The "Culture" people keep referring to is more with the fans I think. A lot still believe we are a top 4 side(or should be challenging that). Obviously we'd like to be, but we are a long way from that. We need to realise we are a top 8 team. Make the 8 and do whatever we can in play-offs. Now don't get me wrong, for me, the club and supporters, that is not good enough obviously, but that is what we are, a top 8 club.
To finish 6th would be an achievement I believe, because we are just not that good.
To change our fortunes, we need to get a top class coach, not a 2nd in command and put him in charge. Allow him to build his side, give him time to build his structure etc.
For too many seasons we have had new coach, shipped 8-10 players out and brought 8-10 new players in, only giving them a season and a bit to get it right then same happens again. We need to stop chopping and changing ever season, get a long term plan get it started and stick with it! Look a Leeds for example, may be 1 out 2 in if you're lucky, every season.
There is no quick fixes in a sport like this. So we need to either sack Radders and find someone qualified for the job or stick with him and give him time.
(although after his admission of not knowing how to fix things and blkaming the fans, I go with the first option.)

I don't accept it, I think and want us to be better, the best in the league, to be winning trophies year on year, but we aren't. Not even close, we need to play the long game, get it right in the long term and accept things may not work how we want it to short term.
We never kicked on when we went to OT, we have slowly gone down. We need to accept we aren't a big club now, but build long term to be a big club in the future. But until we accept we're not one of the big sides, we will constantly chop and change coach and players.

as for Pearson, he needs to make the clubs number 1 priority a number 7! put all other transfer talk on hold and be prepared to spend!'"
No they never.
Far too slow to get up and play the ball giving the halves and backs no room whatsoever to do anything.
Then they started falling off tackles.

Agree, Wakey put a bit of BIFF in across the team, FC couldn't handle it Ellis, Paea, Tuson, Crooks, Yeaman and finally Crookes all retaliated. At 10-0, I said "We're getting bullied with no protection for Miller, every kick, he's getting charged down". At least one penalty was awarded for a late challenge on him. Radford quite rightly said the problem was enthusiasm, and FC bottled the biff. Just a good old fashioned game of Rugby League, we need to man up. I've stated my views regards halves and coach and they remain the same.
Get off the merry go round, stop believing we're sleeping giants. We are and have been an average rugby league team with occassional periods of success.

Bad enough trying to blame the fans (my thoughts on that are documented elsewhere) but admitting that he doesn't know how to fix things is terrible. The more I think about it, the more I feel he is out of his depth.

Good question. Maybe doesn't need abandoning as such, just tinkering with. Bring someone like Smith in and his choice of coaching staff but keep the policy of developing local players for the first team and building the team around them. The coaching staff doesn't need to be local to make that a success.

Who knows what the answer is! That's just not something I want to be hearing from our head coach even if he's been honest. Hardly inspires confidence.

It's the well paid head coaches job to know that. This is exactly why lots of people said he was not experienced enough to be given the job.

The 'Club Hull' policy of appointing ex local players & existing coaching staff, to instill pride & passion , which in reality shouldve been - the best staff available .
Our problems have stemmed from appointing within, its doesnt address the issue, which is an attitude of apathy, Pearson shouldve gone for a coach who is proven., and a full clear out of the coaching staff(conditioner,Assistant Coach etc etc), let the new guy, decide who he wants.
I got slated for suggesting Brian Smith, as he has a record of improving player's core skills & attitude, at least all our players would be 'singing from the same hymn sheet'
Other issues, are our core skills arent good enough, more worrying the youngsters will inherit these traits.
It will be interesting to see from now on, how Pearson reacts when performances drop,
I think we will give a helluva performance against Wigan, but ... the player's attitude hasnt changed since 2006, turn up -when we have to.

Completely agree. A good coach and his staff should be able to do this anyway regardless of where they came from.

Can't argue with this at all. For me, promoting assistants just doesn't work for us. And if we do bring in someone new with head coach experience then he needs to be able to bring in his own team.

I have similar concerns about the youngsters. Not just skill wise but apathy wise. They'll look to the senior players for guidance/tutoring and if the players send out the wrong message then we're just going to have the same problem with the next generation of players.
Quote: weaver93 "It will be interesting to see from now on, how Pearson reacts when performances drop,'"
Not just performances but how the fans react. If more fans start walking and react like that guy did on Sunday in the West Stand then he'll act.

Whilst I'm not expecting a win I do think the players will put in a good performance this week. They'll know they have to turn up for this one.

You can forget Smith or anyone else coming in because Lee Radford is here for a while yet, all the signs are there we are signing players and about to sign players that are his choice, there would be little point in doing that if he was off. We've all just got to do our best and back him, its obviously some of the players that are letting him down and I expect there will be a constant turn around of those in the coming weeks. However its nice to dream of new coaches as we all did for about 18 months under Agar but like then we might have quite a wait and our owner is injecting more money into the Club, which its hard to imagine he would do if we were about to change coaches, so it won't be happening, even if we get sucked into the relegation mire.
