Matterson - Definately Not
Robinson - Going to say No
Powell - No
Brown - Not entirely sure, can take him or leave him
Morgan - No, don't think he can offer us anything
McDermott - No
McRae - Didn't do it before, won't do it again. No
Simmons - Not seen enough of him to pass judgement
Kear - No
Smith - Obvious answer would be Yes but not seen him work with a squad that isn't really the best in the league
McGuire - See Smith, obviously a great coach but so you should be with that squad of players
Harris - No
Just my opinion..!'"
So, in your opinion, we have the 3rd best coach in Super League?

Such is the size of your club i believe that your fans would still moan with a top 4 finish unless it culminated in an Old Trafford appearance.'"
If we finished top 4 and battered a few teams along the way, I would be ecstatic after the dross we have seen over the last years. If we don't get to old trafford so be it.
Tier 2 as you put it is where we are, and as the Brother has said, it is not good enough by a long long way.
We were at old trafford and where are we now?
Why are we where we are now?
I cannot believe that people slag of negativity when they are people that want the club to succeed. If we don't and end up at Costello, I will still be there. I bet you Jake and the Brother would still be there as well. Fact is, we have a hell of a lot of issues as a club. It needs sorting. Agar for me, is on the last season unless we get to Tier 2. And we ain't gonna.

to 3rd in 2009,with the following signings, these signings are hardly the calibre of Long,Fitzgibbon, and O'Meley.
Brett Hodgson Wests Tigers August 2008
Scott Moore Castleford Tigers August 2008
Simon Finnigan Bradford Bulls September 2008
Josh Griffin Wakefield Trinity Wildcats October 2008
Michael Korkidas Castleford Tigers November 2008
Greg McNally Whitehaven RLFC November 2008
Larne Patrick Free agent December 2008
Shaun Lunt Workington Town December 2008
Joe Walsh Harlequins RL November 2008
Keale Carlile Bradford Bulls December 2008'"
I'd argue that Brett Hodgson was one of Huddersfield's best signings for a very long time.
He also took them back down to 5th after shelling out record money for Brough and also having arguably the best combination of half back in the superleague.....

They finished 6th, 4th and 6th in the previous 3 season, reaching the semi final on all three occasions.... Like i said, he's a great coach to acheive the walking of the league competition but they've been borderline winning a grand final for years!!

Not at all.. I'm just saying that i wouldn't swap Agar for those coaches at this given time. I'm still hoping Agar can win his doubters over and prove people wrong and i'm happy to support him in his challenge. If it doesn't work out at the end of his contract then i'll hope for a great replacement.
Contrary to what people believe, a new coach doesn't ALWAYS bring success, it can destabilise a team!!
As i have said, bad management of the past is something we are working to fix over time. Look at Liverpool, No coach in the world can sort that mess out. They need to hit rock bottom before they can be a success!!
We are on the way back up from our rock bottom!!

Brown and Robinson were anonymous prior to Brown arriving.
Now they have improved, under his stewardship, you have to admit Huddersfield are a totally different 'animal' since he took the reins.

| Just playing devils advocate really but how many SL clubs would swap there current coach for Agar?
I don't think anyone on here can say one coach is better then another because it's not black and White, some coaches are better suited to different situations at different clubs that has been proved time and time again.
The circumstances Agar has had to work with have been far from ideal and maybe last year we were just trying to improve by any means, but the points stats with the playing roster we have are terrible, and will need to improve drastically, that is more important then league position for me when judging our progress next season.

I never doubted that.. Though Robinson was a very good player. I said he had a good squad, you said he didn't and listed the transfers!!

IF we can, show some improvements on the basics of the game,
such as backing up,and running onto the ball from depth, instead of taking the ball standing still.I'd be happy.

I agree, and have not said that other clubs will be desperate to swap their coaches for Agar...
I'm just happy to give him a fair crack, he's done what he promised so far and i now expect an improvement!! Be it by success via trophies or general performance improvements!!

If you think that's what we really do, then you best grab yourself a season pass and go to some games!!!

He's been at the club since 2005. Perhaps the most successful and stable period off the field we've had. There can't be many FC coaches assistant and otherwise who have had such excellent conditions in which to work. There have been plenty who have had it much worse and been given shorter shrift. If there are no more signings and we go into the campaign like this the he is either one hell of an optimist or is out of his depth and has failed to address the problems we have with the balance and depth of the squad.

So what he actually did is get them playing consistently well over the entire season to ensure they finished top of the league rather than finishing 6th, 4th and 6th like the previous three seasons. And in the one off games that Noble got the team up for in which they reached the semi-finals, Maguire took it to the next level and they went on and won the Grand Final, all in his first season. Like I said, you're doing him a disservice.

It is a strange one that the two coaches before him had us playing a lot better and essentially did a better job then he has but were both sacked unfairly in my opinion, maybe the club have realised there mistakes and realised that constant changing of the coach isn't the way to go, That's not Agars fault and I agree that every coach needs time although I do wonder were we would be now if the club had given kear the same chances and as fair crack of the whip that Agar has been given.
