Bateman "imminent" release according to Serious about RL. Back this season?

Would he get in the team though? Hard to see how he could displace any of our current back rowers.

| still think we should have tried Okunbor on the wing and moved Briscoe to centre
At least it would have given us another attacking option from the halfbacks with a high kick to the corner like we did with Talanoa.
Scott not good enough and looks to be uninterested since his deal to go to Wakefield was reported.
Still dont understand signing fillers like Briscoe,Hardaker and Holmes without any input from the coach coming in

Apart from Asiata the other signings I would class as no more than solid. I know It's not difficult but they are upgrades on what we have.
The new investment probably came to late to sign better quality SL players as they would have been snapped up already.
The crucial part of the recruitment comes next. The coach is in place we have a number of quota places and should have a significant amount of the salary cap to play with.
I would hope and expect that the remaining signings are of a higher quality to give us a chance of at least competing for a play off place. That's setting a low bar but after the shambles we have seen over the last few years it would be progress.

Absolutely agree. I think it's been clear for some time now that we have not been able to compete financially and that's showing in the squad. We just wouldn't have been able to compete for some of the better players that are on the move next year until the investment was secure. By which point it looks like a lot have already made their decisions. Hopefully the new coach will have good knowledge to get us some decent quota players in and maybe we can tempt a bigger move domestically with a transfer fee (but as we know in RL, that's easier said than done).
At the moment, it's important that we improve the team even if it's slowly and whether we like some of these signings that are coming (or rumoured to be) they do improve us even if they aren't what we ideally want. So let's get behind them, the new coach, and the club for what is hopefully the start of a new era for us.

Solid signings are arguably what we need now. Briscoe, Holmes, Hardaker are all first team starting players with huge amounts of experience. We’ve signed squad and utility players for too long. We need to start being a solid team, with a bit of X factor which we badly miss, too. Hoping for some quality in the remaining quota spots.

Is Holmes an upgrade to Lane and Cator?

| Yes but Bonaire will put the club down for every signing, tactic, appointment, player retention, its got to the point I skip his posts, too many negative soles on here and other social media unfortunately. Club has to sign players that will improve us and we have done that IMO(Briscoe better than McIntosh, Homes better than our 2nd rowers, Hardaker better our centres, Asiata better than Cator, Bourmah better than our hookers all a yes), if we get 8th/9th next year as hard as it is it's progress we are not going to flick a switch overnight and all of a sudden be top 6. If people don't want to be patient and support the club in hard times they can Foxtrot Oscar for me.
