I would expect any sub-standard, rutted, pitch to give the home side the advantage when all the other clubs in that league (bar Swansea) play on pitches akin to crown green bowling surfaces. The fact is though that until yesterday, Hull had won just 3 out of their last 13 home league fixtures, which suggests they are not making the most of home advantage.

IMHO, when managers start blaming pitches (and officials), they are merely looking to deflect criticism away from their own coaching inadequacies. If you start the season with a pitch that you know isn't going to be perfect, then coach your players to use that fact to their advantage.

There were a couple of comments on Blunderside after the game on Friday about the pitch being set up for football. Knowing what a vindictive, thin skinned piece of jobbie Allam is, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that he put Silva up to this. That City won somewhat lessened the impact of this petty point scoring.

Before our first game at the KCom on 8th Jan, City had played at home 11 times and lost 5 of those matches, winning only 2.

Since Jan 8th FC have played 4 games at home, during that same pitch share period City are unbeaten in 6 home games, winning 5 of them.

TBF, I don't think his comments are out of line. From that isolated article I don't think he is saying Hull FC shouldn't be able to use the KCOM, just more sensible scheduling should be considered. He might even accept that the argument cuts both ways, Hull FC as a Professional Sports Business should not be playing on a pitch with less than 24 hours recovery time as well.

City knew about this fri/sat problem, if it is one, five months ago.

He should just have spoken to the Tigers board about it and left it at that.

As I understand the Tigers reserves have played a fixture and their has been some meaningless friendly against a foreign team.

Everyone knows football damages pitches more than rugby, but I get his point re turn around time. However, he just just shut it and get on with winning matches. City are a turgid terrible side, and if the pitch was a mud fuelled trench it would not have any bearing on how they perform. FWIW I really hope they stay up, but this anti rugby nonsense grates on me
