To see how the fringe players are and how they will handle a competitive match, don't forget nearly all of the 1st team squad played all but 1 match last season and what would the point in slinging them in.It always happens on here during friendlies...people moaning

I'm not moaning I'm asking the question what's the point in playing a young side against a full strength team and get hammered what does that do for us or our mental toughness and confidence why don't the coaches come to an agreement about the standard of side they are putting out because what do Cas take from this themselves, and I am now waiting for a cas fan to come on and say they where at half strength themselves lol

You are moaning.
It was men v boys until the last 15 minutes or so.
It was to see if any of the youngsters/fringe players are capable of making the step up.
Some people need a dose of realism.
Griffin and Michaels gave a good account of themselves as expected but I was impressed with young Wray.

I'll have a moan.
Don't get friendlies on boxing day. It's nostalgic tripe in my opinion. A nod to the past. It's a long way to seasons start and hell of a lot of pre season work to be done yet. It could have had slight use with a competitive team out. Kids v cas at cas never stacks up to a useful run out imo.Seeing kids is great but they really need working in along side 1st teamers. Not on mass v a top end team.
Wasted time and effort for players fans and given score probably coaches

Don't agree. They were poor for a lot of the game, including some of the first teamers. But these things happen in friendlies with a young team. Hopefully they'll have learned something today, as will radders. On the plus side Litten was excellent when he eventually came on.

Yer you said that first time hope Cas got something out of it a more competitive match with equally balanced teams would have been better is my point but you seem to miss that

Well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it but I don't agree and I guess you didn't go.

The friendly was a means of generating income and a chance for people like me to enjoy a game of rugby.
Each to their own.

Looking at the team sheet probably only a couple of our starting 13 in there, Griffin and Michaels (based on us starting Shaul, Michaels, Fonua, Griffin, Talanoa, Kelly, Sneyd, Taylor, Houghton, Watts, Minichiello, Manu, Ellis). How did they go, and Green, Bowden, Hadley? Was Hadley hooker?

It was for the most parts an entertaining match and good to see all the young players get a good run out. The idea of these games is to give players a good blow out, and some competitive opposition. How teams are made up is down to the coaches (or size of the squad). If a coach decides to field almost all their first choice squad for nearly all the game it is down to them, and you go expecting what we saw today. The team that will have learnt very little from this is Cas who didn't start to introduce their younger players until the last 15mins. Once the sides were on a par Hull looked much better.

Don't understand this bit. We decided to use this friendly as it should be - a competitive festive match. You should have sent some more 1st team players to even it up and introduce your young players throughout the match as we did. This was an opportunity to try out some set plays you've been working on and entertain your fans - something Hull didn't seem to want to do. If your fans wanted to watch an academy game I'm sure they could have done that.

Entertaining game for the neutral. Was curious to see how Griffin got on after watching him for the past few years. Still carries well but his defence has always been a problem year after year ive seen him play. It's the only thing stopping him from an England shirt. He'll be found out very quickly by the Hull fans and the rest of SL now he's at a much bigger club when people start to take notice.

Hull have another four friendlies in which they can do this including two at home where I imagine the two strongest teams will play. Also there will be far more of Hull's fans at the home games where they will hopefully be entertained. It was Cas's home game so a chance to encourage more home fans to buy season tickets, That's what Pearson will hope for when we play at the Kcom.

Looking forward to seeing how Griffin goes. He absolutely looks the part but as you say questions on defence which potentially may be improved under Radford.

Quote: Bal "At the game, some promising stuff from the youngesters but no match for a full Cas side.

Might even up in second half if they bring off some of their senior squad.'"

It wasn't a full Cas side by the way.

Largely first team in the first half but still missing:

Joel Monaghan, Ben Roberts, Luke Gale, Andy Lynch, Adam Milner, Oli Holmes, Matt Cook, Larne Patrick and Jy Hitchcox
