I've never said he's not a good player, just that I don't think he's so good that we should alter the entire salary cap structure of our sport to keep him. And, as well as he played last night, I don't think his contribution was any greater or more important than Sinfield's, Roby's, Westwood's and a few others'. |

I agree about Roby...massively underrated imo.....given a choice of Tompkins or Roby would not be an easy decision imo |

Apparently tomkins cant even have talks with any nrl or onion club for the next 3 yrs as its in his contract....should do this with all good esl players

Must admit I have warmed to him over the last couple of weeks. I had to laugh when the fans were shouting Yeamo as they were walking round at the end and Tomkins joined in. Im sure I will go back to hating him again when he pulls on the Wigan shirt but I am glad hes english.

After last night my views have changed on Tomkins...
Great player, theres no denying that but the 'togetherness' of the team was really good to see...Had a friend in the England set up and he said Sam was up his own arris and didnt really want to know anyone but the wigan lads but last night it was refreshing to see the bond with the players...
Bring on the Aussies!

If he opened discussions with any union or NRL club tomorrow, there's not a thing that Wigan or the RFL could do about it. You cannot be bound by an unlawful term in any contract and it wouldn't take a Philadelphia Lawyer to show restraint of trade |

Me too. I loathed the snidey cheating Tomkins of old. Let's hope he really has matured in attitude, because that's the only thing that will stop him from becoming a RL legend. If you think of the greats - Sully, Fox, Boston et al, usually there is no "side" to them.
