| Keep.
If any youngsters showed a hint of being ready for SL they would have been in by now.
Inexpensive, versatile, local & will improve under a decent coach. Was one of out better players back in 2008 ish ?

NO. He's average at best.
Enough "average at best" players like him in your squad and your squad becomes "average at best".
Let him go to rovers, they'll have him in a heartbeat !

| If Pearson wants the Hull to be the best team in SL , Then realistically Washbrook wont get anywhere near the 18 in the future. Maybe a better quality of coach could do something with him .

| I like Washy but the only position I would use him is loose forward and we already have Westerman for that position and could also use Whiting so I can't see where he fits in?
He is not good enough as a hooker and we have two next season anyway and we have plenty of halves and he won't get in ahead of those.
I could see Wakey or Widnes being interested.

| We have to be ruthless if we have aspirations of challenging the top 4....we should ger rid. I like Washy as he always tries hard whatever position he is asked to play....for me he lacks that speed of thought/football brain...Westerman has this...Washy doesn't.

That is ruthless. You could be the RLFans version of Ghengis Khan with that level of ruthlessness.
To be honest, whether Washy stays or goes, I'm not that bothered. If he stays, we have a cheap, homegrown squad player, who can cover the backrow. If he goes, he's easily replaceable, perhaps from the U20's.

Where's Westy?, or the after-watershed Where's Willie?
I don't think that I would keep Washbrook, tbh. The only position that I would play him is Loose Forward and we already have Westerman who is far far far superior to him. If Westerman isn't fit, Tickle would move there.
I also wouldn't like him as being our interchange backrower. A backrow of Manu, Tickle, Westerman, Washbrook is weaker that what we have this season (Manu, Tickle, Fitzgibbon, Westerman) and so isn't the direction that we need to be going in.
Whilst he would be adequate cover for if any of our first choice 4 became unavailable, he would presumably have too large a salary for this role.
I don't see him progressing much as a player, although he isn't bad, so I would rather this cover opportunity be given to one of the younger players - Cunningham or Green for example.

I think you will probably find that quite a few of us on here have had our wages pensions expenses etc discussed on much larger forums than this one and certainly by supposedly more important people.
As for Washy well for me its a difficult one. He is a hardened pro who has as far as I know been a model pro whilst at the club. He is solid if unspectacular and generally speaking his step (being his only asset) is well marshalled by other teams. But every team even Wire has its billy basic players just some have far more than others. I would in an ideal situation get rid but....... The alternatives are few and far between so I can see him being retained.

Agree with this.
Can't remember the last time Washbrook had a stand out game. Bradford at home in the playoffs in 2006?
He's not lived up to his early promise and I think it's time for him to move on.
