I'm confident that when he's back fit he will play a major role in our end of season push. I disagree that he's been carried. More often than not he has been asked to play as the dictating half back due to injuries to other halves and Cooke leaving. Thats not his game.'"
Couldn't have put it better myself.

back to the original question, has Horne been missed................YES definetely'"
There's no room for sentiment in sport!!
IMO it's time to say thank you and goodbye at the end of this season!! Either that, or put him on a squad backup players wage and play him as such!!
He earns alot more than he provides!!

| Needs to up his game.
Had 2 good games this year, is that good enough.
To answer the oringinal post he is missed as he is better than Washbrook at 6.
Needs to imrpove his game to be more consistant this season though or could find himself dropped as we could use Tansey at 6 and Whiting at FB.

I presume you know he's contracted, do you think he'll leave without a pay off? If no how much would you be willing to pay him off with?
How much of our cap would a squad back up player be on?

| Some people on this site speak total and utter s**t, Horney has been missed if some people went on Sunday you can see Washy is never a number 6 and Horney when fit will make us a better side. He was firing on all cylinders before he got injured but has put his body on the line for the team and ended injuring himself even more.

| I think you have to look at it in perspective, without a doubt we miss the Horne of old, people say that he has been playing poorly in his recent games becuase 7 is not his best position, Id agree with that but in past he has really excelled there, had a few very good seasons playing at 7. Its pretty obvious why in recent years his form as been poor, and it says a lot about the kid that he his still playing and there is no reason why he cant get back to his best with a bit of luck with injuries.
Ill go against the general view though that he has been missed a lot recently, most of it if not all was out of his control but it cant be underestimated how poor he has been in recent seasons, and apart from the home game (Huddersfield I think?) and Wigan away the following week were he showed signs of that spark of old, in the little he has played this season he hasnt had an influence, and performed no better really then Washy has been playing now at 6.
Horne has earned the patentience he has been given, I think they key is though that as mentioned above before his most recent injury the were signs were encouraging, and if he can kick on when he returns he will be one hell of a player for us again, and I think he will do that.

| Oh dear here we go again slagging horney off. I'm totally fed up of the negativity of some of our so called supporters just as there is some light at the end of the tunnel they have to go looking for something or someone to slate, can't we all just get behind our team for once and show the rest we are the best supporters in super league!

| I actually said when we signed Long we should have brought in another creative style of SO. However, Horne has shown glimpses of his old brilliant self this season so I think its worth perservering with him because a fully fit performing R.Horne is a massive asset to the the club. I would think his next contract will almost certainly be on reduced terms though as he just cant seem to get fit for any length of time and the salary cap needs to be used wisely. We haven't missed the poorly performing Horne this season but we have missed the brilliant Horne as any team would.

| Horne started the season fairly well and then really hit top form for a couple of matches showing his class. He then got injured and was rushed back and played when he should have really been rested but needs dictated we had to try him.
Once he is back and playing alongside Long I think they will make a great partnership.
How anyone can knock him for his performances this season I really don't know.

Agree 100%.
Good player when fit. Only problem is for whatever reasons, he never seems to be fit for any decent length of time to judge is form fairly. If you look at the other stand offs in SL, you have to ask the question, would you swap R Horne for them taking into account ability, wage and how much time they actually spend on field. The following stand offs at other clubs I would swap with R Horne. All must be on similar wage.
Wigan – Sam Tomkins.
Warrington – Lee Briers.
Bradford – Brett Kearney.
Castleford – Rangi Chase.
Leeds – Danny McGuire.
Catalans – Adam Mogg (Before he left)
Wakefield – Paul Cooke (If you forget what he did to us).
Crusaders – Michael Witt.
Saints – Leon Pryce.
Harlequins – Luke Dorn and Huddersfield’s – Kevin Brown and Salford’s - Ratchford are on par IMO.
Basically you would swap him for most other stand offs in comp.
