Quote: Kosh "I think most of them ignored it on purpose TBH.
Quite. A few lone voices have been saying for some time that the Allams [ipersonal[/i wealth isn't as great as has been made out, and most of the money they've spent around the city has come from their business interests.'"
In the Hull Daily Mail QandA session today they mentioned the £50m investment at least five times.
Thrice using the investment as justification for not "scrimping" on spending money on a decent player's wages (i,e, not stopping Pearson and Barmby from recruiting and looking forward to the summer transfer window).
Both Allams used the same phrase. First Ehab
Q - There has been criticism that you have only wanted your hands on the KC Stadium and everything comes back to that issue. How would you respond to that?
A - Ehab - I understand the negative comments because of what has gone on in the club's past but if we were interested in property, we would have invested £50m in property. Would we really put £50m into a football club on a leasehold? Our interest is the football. The interest in acquiring the stadium was to increase the income for the football club, not for our personal gain. [size"[/size
When you are aware of the circumstances surrounding the "invested" £50M, it does undermine all of those arguments, rather. But I still bet the majority of people believe the funds to the the Allams' personal wealth because of the way it's been - and is still being - phrased from the off.
There were also an interesting couple of questions relating to Lord Faulkner
Q - Can you give us an insight into the events of Monday? There was a lot of speculation around what was happening at the club. What is your perspective of what happened?
A - Ehab - We have had some issues in the past few weeks and we decided that we had to take immediate action, so we called Adam Pearson in, had a meeting with him, and we decided to terminate his contract.
Q - You said in a statement that his contract had been terminated and that no compensation had been paid. Was a contract place meaning a payment will need to be made to Adam?
A - Ehab - It has been reported in the press that Adam walked out due to concerns over Nick Barmby. That is not the case. We terminated Adam's contract on Monday with immediate effect.[size"[/size
The latter being a brilliant example of how to avoid answering a question by giving the answer to a completely different one.
