Allam could have clarified himself had that have been the truth.

They're claiming he's been misunderstood. I agree, but he's only been misunderstood by those people who thought he was the Messiah!!

| I'm sure he wasn't being "misunderstood" until the FA investigation in to his little outburst popped up.
Anybody hear a sound of furious back-pedalling?

| I have been wondering about this name change issue for a while now and can't help but thinking that there is a hidden reason that Allam is so adamant he will go ahead.
The guy may well be a complete , but from a financial point of view he is not stupid, especially with his own money. For get the "gift to the city" rubbish, he has LOANED Hull City £70m. At some point he will get that back, plus a bit more.
Could this hidden reason be a sponsor ship deal which is contingent on the name change? Is there a prospective buyer insisting on this before the deal is finalised?
Of course I am assuming here.
With the team securing their most high profile home win in their history, does the naming issue, keeping them in the newspapers, give them the global media attention he was looking for?
Either way, for someone who has resided on these shores for over 45 years, I doubt his intentions could be mis-interpreted

Another insult to the City Supporters really if Steve Bruce is so nieve he believes any of them will swollow that lame excuse if that was the case and it isn't, why didnt Allam come straight out and say he had been mis quoted or his sentiments had been misinterpreted!! He meant it at the time or he wouldn't have kept stum afterwards.

| He may have been in Hull for over forty five years, he sure has not grasped the way the people of this city think about their institutions. There can be no mistake as to what he said and no amount of "spin" put on it now is going to alter that fact.
It is only a matter of time before he walks or is pushed away, can you imagine the chairman of Man U, Liverpool or even Chelsea saying that about there supporters.
He has now run out of road and he makes his own mind up what he does now, but he is finished in this city.

He certainly seems to have made a major faux pas with the 'die' comments, up til that point I kind of thought it was a 50/50 of who was in the right and the wrong. I was of the mind that the club was always called the tigers, the only thing was the naming and that was all just semantics as they would always be called City regardless of the branding.
The worry for City fans now is that if you're right and he is finished in the City then I struggle to see them finding a buyer and there is only one outcome from that. Personally I think there'll be a back down to middle ground of marketting the Tigers brand and the club continuing to be named Hull City.
Just as aside, and please don't take this as a dig because it's not, during the FC rebranding as the Sharks, how fully was this embraced, was it just ignored by the fanbase hence the switch back or did some fans really get behind it. It's just a quirk that teams like Bradford, Leeds, Warrington have really took it on yet Hull reverted back pretty quickly.

the fans never embraced it, but to be fair it co-coincided with us being the worst we had been on the field in living memory, the fans hated David Lloyd and by that stage the Boulevard was looking way past its best.
had the name change be attempted in say 1992 after we'd won the Premiership, or 2003 when we moved to the KC things may have been received more positively. Instead it was doomed to fail from the start.

I hated the Sharks branding with a passion.
I never bought any merchandise and when we went back to Hull FC I was over the moon.
All three clubs have very loyal traditional followers, the sooner Allam smartens up the better for City and its fans.

it won't happen, fans abroad like success and history, which is why the Man United's, Real Madrids, Barcelona's and AC Milans dominate shirt sales in Asia. The fans out there want to see Messi, Ronaldo & Rooney not the likes of Robert Koren.

The "Sharks" naming was done as part of a rugby league wide initiative where just about all (except hkr and st helens) changed their playing titles. It worked for a few clubs, didnt work for others and was not liked by a few (Hull FC)
Devils advocate, but would you embrace being called hull robins?

Interesting to note the Daily Mail not referring to him as 'Dr' in that article.
