Quote: WormInHand "So are we saying that Pearson had no knowledge of the size of the offers made to 'Gentle and McRae's' signings? The same Pearson who stepped in personally to convince Ellis to choose Hull and who owns the club and the purse-strings? He didn't know when we signed Miller that the young novice would be one of fhe highest earners? Or that McDonnell's dad was a mate of Gentle's? Or that most of our signings had the same agent? We're saying this successful, savvy businessman was kept in ignorance by the evil duo throughout?'"
No - [iwe're[/i not saying that. But Pearson may have been told that Arundel was the next big thing in SL so we should sign him on a big money 4 year deal. Or that Miller was a rising Aussie starlet that was worth the cash to solve our HB issue.

So is the idea that Lee Radford told Pearson Gentle was crap and training etc. was a joke when in fact in reality all was 100% excellent and all standards were top drawer and befitting of a club with high aspirations. Do you not think that the "successful, savvy businessman" would have had enough about him to see through this blatant untruth had it in fact been one big Radford stitch up ?
Quote: WormInHand "I can see that he may have been misled by the advice of McRae but find it ludicrous to be asked to believe that Pearson was completely ignorant of the shenanigans and blindly duped. Because if that is the case we are asked to believe that Pearson is a naive fool which we all know he is not.'"
See above - doesn't your Radford backstabbing theory suggest that Pearson was in fact "blindly duped" by Radford ? Surely you can't think that now as you yourself have said that Pearson isn't a naïve fool.
Quote: WormInHand "I am also uncomfortable by the bracketing of Gentle and McRae as the hoodwinkers who have led Pearson up the garden path. What possible reason can Gentle have had to mislead Pearson? From what I saw his role was to coach the team he had available, and he made a better job of it with the same men at his disposal than the current incumbent.'"
Who has suggested they were 'hoodwinking' him ? McRae and Gentle had a big bag of newly minted cash from AP to rebuild the squad post-Kath. There was no hoodwinking - just a great deal of incompetence in signing average players on big, long contracts. Pearson clearly didn't like that hence the status of Gentle and McRae at the club today.
Quote: WormInHand "Does anybody have any concrete information as to any darker side to the input from Gentle? Anyone know the precise nature of the 'mistake' it is now generally felt Pearson made in hiring him? If not, I prefer to keep my thoughts of him non-defamatory.'"
You're clearly a big fan of his. But you're happy to promote the theory that Radford was the orchestrator of his demise. Is that not a tiny bit defamatory in itself ?
