Charnley is like Ryan Hall in that he never seems to get involved in his sides 20 to help out the forwards and you cant have 2 hugging the sideline wingers in the same side IMO.

When do Wigan have exit sets? Rarely. Tomkins kick returns usually put them past the 20 and it's usually Charnley that drops back on the last tackle to aid Tomkins.
I know what you're saying but Wigan are rarely in the position of having to dig out of their 20 and Tomkins seems fit enough to consistently return kicks for 80 minutes, He seems to do on his own what other teams would have a winger sharing.

If you read the stats, it shows that Charnley has been passed the ball 152 times, whereas Briscoe has been passed it 90 times (carries - carries from dummy half), so it's no surprise Charnley has more meters really is it?
And, on meters per carry Briscoe is better than Charnley anyway: Charnley's stat is 7.9 m/pc, whereas Briscoe's is 8.3 m/pc.
Stats can show whatever you want them too, and Briscoe is clearly a better player than Charnley, not that he's a bad player by any measure.

I never said any-where Charnely was better, I said he could be pushing Briscoe for a spot if he carries on his form, although if Briscoe carries on with Saturdays form he should maintain his spot.

He has not been better so far this season, however when Briscoe is on form he is the best, simply really. Briscoe needs to build his defensive play as Charnley is better defensively. |
