Peter Smith‏ @PeterSmithYEP

I've checked. Daryl Powell says Gale is okay, but failed a head test. He has not suffered a jaw injury.

Quote: BIG HOWARD "cas fan ringing his mate after the game said hicks was rubbish lost by 2 points and had 3 tries disallowed in the second half i suppose its how you see the game from your teams point of view'"

hicks saved cas from a hammering by wrongly sending watts off. After that he seemed to favour cas all game to me. Did we get another penalty after their team warning?

Looking at the stats, cas got 11 penalties to our 9, had massive weight of possession - 208 carries to our 151 (this is happening regularly and we need to cut down on the errors) but made fewer clean breaks, 9 to 7, but their offloads were 29 to our 8.

More pleasing for me than the win was the way we played before watts went off. That first 15 minutes was the best rugby we've played all season and gave me some confidence we can get back to where we were last year (and maybe be better in attack). If we have a fair share of possession then I'm sure we're a match for any team in the comp. We just need to cut out the errors and penalties

I've been critical of us. I think we've been poor all year. Tbf I called the big losses. Not to that extent but I said they were coming back before wigan game. But that yesterday was our 1st real all elements in performance. In round 11. Having played each team and only a point from top. That bodes well doesnt it. Tbf without the send off being in the position we were..warm weather..They had a hard game Monday. .I think we'd of put 40 on them. Comfortable. If we play like that v wire. Maybe get Bowden Griffin houghton back to freshen us up a bit then I cant see how wire can live with us. Unless they find season best form

Tbf, you can talk about chances they wasted, but we could easily have had 40 ourselves even with 12 men. The kick that Connor patted back and just bounced over Green's head with the try line begging, Shauls offload that Green couldnt quite pick up and then Kellys break when he passed to Connor and didnt see Shaul arriving on his shoulder who would have scorched in.

My mate wasn't real happy with Albert for not passing to Shaully as he had a tenner on him for last try scorer at 14's. icon_lol.gif
Mind you, the blow was softened a little bit as he also had a tenner on Scotty T for first scorer at 40/1.

He was probably quite pleased to see Mcmeeken go over at the death then.

On the subject of Albert, you cant argue with Fonua getting MOTM, but Kelly was exceptional yet again. You name it, he did it in the game. Passing try assist, kicking try assist, clean breaks out of nothing, 40/20, tracking back to tackle Greg Eden, massive goal line defence. We all know his track record for second season syndrome, but even if he only gives us one season of that quality he will go down as a brilliant signing.

He seems to be enjoying his rugby again, good for him, and good for us!

Just watching the tries again and it was a really good gather by Albert before he put the cross field kick in for our last.
It wasn't the friendliest of passes from Mahe.

Quote: Bal "Agree. I think it is fair to say that both players got unlucky. Gale couldn't help but be in that position after the initial hit and got hurt as a result, Watts wasn't in anyway malicious or reckless and couldn't have anticipated that he would hit him where he did. I think some of the comments about Gale are a bit unfortunate to be honest, he failed a concussion test and is a doubt for their next game, he was hurt. But that doesn't mean that Watts deserved a red card, the official read it poorly.'"

for incidents like that, should be 10 mins in the bin, unless its a clear attempt to take someones head off, no way should be a red card. The saints one was a joke, and so is this one. The sin bin is a great part of our game, and no way gets used enough imo

Someone pointed out that mcShane running in clouted gale in the head with his knee, if that is true then the sparked out on the floor Gale could have been more to do with that?
Also see that (the running in) Mcshane leads with the elbow/forearm to Watts head whilst he's on the ground, that's much worse than anything Watts has done! that should have been a straight red too.

I agree. Part of me thinks even a yellow would be harsh, but if we accept even non dilberate and non reckless contact with the head should be yellow to try and promote better technique (although I'm not sure what Watts could do differently) then it was a 10 minute offence.

I find it quite strange that for as long as I can remember we have very rarely seen any cards shown at the KC since we left the Boulevard but yet in the last 3 homes games we have seen 4 yellow and 1 Red. so the question is have Hull FC suddenly become the devils spawn or have the officials and RFL been shown up for the amateur way they run things?

The incident with Watts was never a sin bin let alone a card, a penalty is all it should have been. If that incident is deemed a Red then this sport is screwed as no team after 80 mins will have many players let on the pitch.

It wasnt even a penalty,it was accidental contact with the head,Watts arms are by his side, how can Watts change his body position in such short space of time.
