White with a thin black V (sort of like our first kit at the KC) or another Charcoal Grey and White shirt like 2010's away kit would have been my choices, but lets see what it actually looks like.

How can we have a white with think back V as our away kit when our home kit will be black and white?

Depends how much Black (or White) the home shirt has, our kit this year for example had loads of Black so we probably could have got away with a mostly White kit if we wanted to. With Bradford gone the only kit we clash with is Widnes.

Doubt if mainly black with white gives the option of an alternative strip which is mainly white with black.

It doesn't, way back in Lee Jenkinson's days they asked that question and if I remember rightly the answer was they could have one black and white and one Black or one white but not two with both colours on them.
