Taylor was put on report for that similar offence. I did also say that Taylor's wasn't as bad as that one.

| For me on reflection we would have lost that game in the past and a lot of that was down to a lack of application spirit and wanting. This coach has brought that back in spades and although we give so much ball away we seem confident in our ability to defend it. For me with all the changes in the game survival this season is our first priority and although we are yet to pass the half way point in the season for me we are just about there. This coach has got Houghton and Taylor playing again when most thought they'd had it and when two important players drop out 24 hours before the game the incoming players step up seamlessly and that defence is still there. Poor old Wakey their fans looked to have given up completely after the game, that was their big chance, but it's hard to see how they will survive.

I don't think it was even similar, Taylor just made the tackle and the player rolled over and hurt his ankle, think the ref knew that so didnt give a penalty, only went on report as the player was injured the Rovers one was a hip drop by Batchelor.
I guess we will have to see what the RFL say.

We got a ‘back to one’ call early on and Swift made the break but tried to take Dagger on the outside and got tackled in to touch.
We don’t know Trueman didn’t hear the ref?
Sao’s was very frustrating compounded by Clifford trying to pat it back.
Griffin did a poor pass to Clifford which he knocked on.
Satae knocked on trying a difficult offload.
All not good for my blood pressure and we need to improve on them.

In Super League I would say practically every game
is a Must Win
This is a WIN business
I can’t believe people wouldn’t think matches aren’t
must win
Having seen the win could you now imagine losing
that match ?
it would be shoite house to have lost that game
I just shake my head at people who don’t think a
relegation shake down isn’t a MUST WIN match

| Absolutely great to get that win !
We were 7/10 and did enough to beat a
Wakey side who’ve not won in 255 days.
Swift was my man of match - worked like a trojan and his stats should reflect his go forward
I really like Clifford
Litten could have put Swift away early in 2nd half - couldn’t believe he didn’t pop the ball to Swift on the 30m line
Griffin worked hard - seems to have lost his pace but put in a shift for sure
Lane - seemed to try hard but he’s no
Minichello and I have to wonder don’t we have a younger 2nd row who can tackle ?
Litten - I love young lads having a crack - hope he’s not too injured. He needs to get another 5kg on and look physically more like Sutty. Richard Gay always needed that extra weight on in early days.
Trueman - most of the attack went with Clifford on our left so Truey Carlos and Scott didn’t see much ball.
Really really happy with the win and we build confidence with wins and now let’s have Cas in the Cup !!!!

Eight Hull players made more than 100 metres.

| Good win and certainly looks like Wakefield are down, sadly for their fans. Thought Taylor and Sao were great tonight, with Lane more direct too. Danny Houghton looked great and Sutcliffe was an inspired signing, always looking to attack and very solid in the tackle. Ref was a bit too involved for me, too many six agains and Clifford's try being ruled out was poor from the officials just as Come On You Ull has said, best stats since Toulouse away, defensively, and we can build on this. Shows how close things are when we are level on points with Saints, albeit played more games and just 4 off the Dragons. Can build into the season and the playoffs should be our goal now, relegation looks banished from our minds now and Smith can take us to a far better level, with some clever recruitment next year. I would definitely have a look at Whitbread for a possible signing , thought he was good and hope for Wakey's loyal diehards that they can survive the drop. Michael Carter was almost resigned to the fact , judging by his pre-match interview and it is hard to see where their next win will be, they have nothing in attack.

“I think Davy is ok, he said he could have kept going but he has never had an ankle problem before. He has just twisted his ankle and he said he panicked a little bit.

Some great work from the backs. Taylor topped the tackle count with 42, which is impressive as he played about 60 minutes, been our best prop this year IMO, certainly deserves a new deal, think people have been a bit unfair to him, suffered injuries the last two years and and this is his first pre season in 3 years, looks fit and strong.
Griffin for all his faults, works very hard 74 minutes, 31 tackle (one miss), 14 runs for 126 metres. Can we sign better than him in the current market, like Taylor depends on the salary, but I'm not sure we can.
