| Quote: Uppo58 "Personally I like reading Bumpys posts. He's forthright, says things without sugar coating and he's not afraid to just say it how he sees it.
Its just an opinion, of ONE man, and I can take it or leave it as I can with everyones. But I do like reading them.
I can't always do with all the Table Tennis and sometimes vitriol that usually follows a Bumby opening post or any of his posts for that matter, and both sides are to blame... someone starts it and no-one wants to back down and off we go... 3 pages later....
But it is amusing sometimes and then it just gets tedious and then boring.
His opening posts often make me look at the game from a different perspective, I rarely agree but I do agree sometimes. If I dont agree I'm not going to change Bumpys opinions anyway and I wouldn't want to. They are somtimes curve ball versus mainstream but so what. Let his voice be heard.
People are individuals and their different opinions make the world go round and a brighter more interesting place.
On this forum too its the same. If everyone just agreed with everyone else and largely followed the pack then what really is the point ?. Especially if it makes some people daunted to say what they think because they are wary of a backlash, whether real or not.
I welcome all comments, it makes this forum, but I'm not sure the barbs that are flying around on some occasions really are in the best interests of upping poster numbers. Rugby League and Hull FC has a rich tapestry of opinions, I just think we should welcome them all. We all see things in different ways.
Knockers "Radders out' move failed, I'm happy to say. It was a divisive move, and some people have long memories, but he genuinely felt that so fair play to him, and in the end end common sense prevailed in my humble opinion. I was very pleased that both he and it failed.
More recently though, he's had good things to say about Radders so he's not dyed in the wool.
And for or me that petition thing has gone with the fairies. Its History.
But I like people like Bumby and Seb who just sometimes say it, sometimes they may regret it, but thats their nature, they who are honest to their own opinions whether popular or not.
Long may it continue.'"
Good post that how nice to read something that makes sense!

moaning old git mode = he's one of the few that usually back up their beliefs with plenty of evidence and usually makes a proper case 'for' the prosecution. whether he's right or wrong doesn't matter as it is only an opinion of one person at the end of the day. to rubbish what he says without giving a decent case against him is all too common nowadays, and we are seeing less of decent debate on the forums nowadays just tit for tat arguments and points scoring. its turning a lot of old regulars away /moaning old git mode

| For all the good, logical stuff that Bumpy does he lets himself down by the constant abuse of anyone who offers a different point of view.

| Presume Westerman is Cup Tied, and wont be able to play for FC in their 2018 CC campaign? He was substitute for Toronto in their cup game at Kells on 16th March.

Didn't the RFL bring a deadline in for the latter stages of the CC where if you'd played before it for a different club, you could play for your new club...or have I been dreaming again?!

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| I had a look at the "rules" last week, very difficult to find, but it did say once you've played for one team that's it.
It was in a section about dual-reg, so maybe there's another reference somewhere that I missed.

I'm wondering if this all came about after the Thackery incident in 2008, think they may have simplified things

| Yes - I've found it again, and he's certainly cup-tied.
I think Steve Evans managed to play for 2 clubs in the same season a while ago.
Did Westerman actually [iplay[/i in that Kells game, I know he was down as a sub?

Ah yes the infamous year in which we supposedly cheated according to ones that frequent the team from the aptly named Poorhouse Lane. Really thought they'd have tried to get that renamed by now.
Back on topic, although I wasn't keen at first I think Westerman with a point to prove to himself as much as anyone else and to earn a deal its a win/win for the club. Hopefully we will use him out wide were he will be more of an attacking threat than just an extra forward driving it down the middle.

Cant see our coach having a wide running second row like Ben Currie or Whitehead.
We had the ideal one in Frank Pritchard and he ended up like you or i dont want Westerman to be just an extra forward driving it down the middle.
But he will

| Wherever he plays it gives us some much needed quality back row rotation and the option to move hadley or manu up to prop if needed

"Abuse", you mean stuff I've said AFTER I've already been attacked myself which wasn't 'abuse' at all and certainly nowhere near the level of vilification I'm on the end of?
I don't come out in a first post and start attacking/vilifying someone for their opinion and never have, so you're lying. Unlike plenty on here who wade in after I've made a comment on a post, time and time and time again.
Do i sometimes throw some back AFTER I've had yet another unpleasant post aimed at me, absolutely, I don't make it personal either, on a couple of occasions calling out/mentioning my family in an insult as well as personal name calling (that was subsequently deleted by a Mod)
As I said, IF we can get Westerman firing like he was leading up to his England call up with us and like he played in 2016 AND not just be a banging it down the middle forward he'll be a brilliant asset. However I'm certainly not putting a huge amount of expectation on him because firstly I don't think he'll be used like Smith did in 2016 that brought out the best in him and secondly he hasn't been at that level for some time and it's an unknown if he can ever get near to those heights again.
he does have time on his side though at 28, we can just hope he knuckles down, puts his all in and surprises us. looking forward to what he is going to bring us.
