Debatable. Would be surprised if Abdull were first pick in the halves for Rovers - you have a strong history of bringing in halves like Green, Dobson, Kelly, Campese and Hudgell will want to make a statement straightaway. I'd expect overseas HB options are already being progressed as I would be surprised if Sheens sees him as a starting HB for a team looking to ensure top 8 in SL next season. On the basis 2 halves come in, would he be closer to first team action with Rovers or Hull? Might come down to which pack he'd rather play in/behind.

I would have him as my 13 all day long in SL, very strong, quick for his size, good ball handling, he's got it all to play 13. Big future if he continues to develop as he currently is, I hope we snatch him away from you but we'll see.

Good to hear how well he's doing. That said there'll be huge overemphasis on his importance declared by whichever side he turns out for next year simply because he's played for both teams and is a decent prospect. Would probably do his career a favour to sign for Wakefield instead.

| Think it will be huge mistake by the club if we lose Abdul and one that we could come to regret.

| Quote: Dave K. "Hull identified the problem a couple of years ago, but you can only do so much, the player also needs to put the effort in, Radford can't stop Abdul going to KFC or his Mum feeding him junk food every night. Not playing him last season and sending him on loan to the lower leagues seems to have seems to have given Abdul a wake up call, I'm sure Sheens will help him development but let's not pretend that Sheens is perfect and has every single player he has had has developed and improved.
Radford does a very good job developing players and he seems to be handling Kelly very well and has improved a lot of our youngsters and established players. You can critise Radford for a few things, but is pretty good at player development if they have the right attitude.
It it now up to Abdul if he wants to play for a top 8 SL side or a championship/bottom 4 SL side next year.'"
How can you say with hand on heart that radford is very good at developing players?
Who exactly has he developed in 3.5 years?
Radford couldn't develop a dose of clap in a French brothel that's why we are having to sign other clubs youngsters and have Turgut and Fash who are just about passable as SL std. That's due to them getting older/bigger not to being 'developed' in any special way.
3.5 years on and not a single player in this time has debut'd and gone on from the academy to be a first choice in the XVII

I think you are forgetting that Radford was number 2 when Gentle was here and had a big say in developing young players, as I've said before in reply to your posts which you then ignored he more or less brought through Lineham and Shaul (both who Gentle wanted to get rid)
Shaul, Bowden, Hadley, Lineham all went from but part players to regulars under Radford.
He has also helped improve many players including Shaul, Houghton, Sneyd, Bowden and Green. (Maybe even Watts)
It all isn't about how many debut, but if it is Litten, Fash, Turgut, Downs, Masi, Logan, Abdul have all made their debuts under Radford.
It's all about timing, players like Fash weren't ready last year, I know you think you know more than him, but you don't he sees them every day and will know if they are ready to play the odd game, play regularly or need to go out on loan.
Let's be honest you will never say anything positive even when the facts are right there.

Real shame for the lad. His attitude has been spot on - his chasing back and saving some seemingly lost causes defensively have been among his highlights for me. Hopefully he can still be involved in the 8s. But whatever happens, I wish him well and I'm grateful for the effort he put in this season.
I think also that he's done a pretty good job of not upsetting two sets of fans, both of which contain some people who are easily upset.

As you say, for a young lad he's gone about his business impeccably in what can be a tricky situation.
My only worry is that now he's inactive, he's going to slip back into his bad ways and all his hard work fitness wise is going to come undone. I've always struggled with my weight, but am close to losing 5 stone and have taken up running. I know how I feel when I have just a week off any form of exercise and my nightmare would be picking up an injury. Just hope he doesn't let this get him down and he keeps it up because he's doing so well.

5 stone - wow! I was/am aiming to lose a stone and a half this year. Progress has been slow.
On Abdul, I read that he got a bit down and had a bit of self-doubt when he was struggling to get in your team last year. I think he should have picked up some confidence again from playing regularly, albeit in the championship. I'd put him our top 5 performers so far this season. Hopefully he'll be encouraged by that (not my endorsement specifically, necessarily) and make good decisions.

It's taken over 2 years and I've very much slowed down and am more maintaining now. Very happy where I am and it's my fitness I'm concentrating on now rather than worrying what the scales say.
Back to Abdul, confidence is a massive thing with players and I'm sure the confidence he's gained at KR will set him up for the career we all know he's capable of
