| Quote: FCFaithful Stu "Everything about the club currently looks amateur. I really had faith that the Pearson regime would bring a modern forward looking scientific way of working. After all this is a guy that has experience in sports management. It doesn't matter if he has a lack of knowledge of RL, he is experienced in running professional clubs. When he arrived and talked about under investment in the back room off field areas I believed there would be a marked improvement. All I can see is money has been spent on gyms. I have real reservations about how FC strength train anyway and in reality you can train in any gym. It doesn't really matter if the kit looks 25 years old, as long as it is safe and works, it can be used for effective training.
Where money needs to be spent is back room staff that have the best knowledge in injury prevention, conditioning and nutrition. I'm afraid the back room staff of FC would struggle to impress Championship teams.
I want AP to succeed and desperately hope things change and he becomes a legend of the club, taking us to great things. This is never going to happen until big decisions are made about the structure of the club from youth development up.
I'm afraid the club Hull ethos has been a disaster, there are a number of reasons I disagree with it but the biggest issue I have is the mentality this breeds. There really is a lack of believe in how great this club and the city in general can be. We are great in Hull of being expertly modest. This is a massive problem when you are trying to be the best you can be and better than the rest. I don't see any of our youth players having the attitude that says I am better than you and better than anything in this league and I am going to prove it by showing you every week on the pitch. Where is that confident arrogance that players like Sinfield and Cunningham and Briers and Long had in their prime. What Hull player had that aura about them. The last I can remember was Schofield and he left for what he thought was greener grass. I don't want a team or arrogant idiots, I want a team of winners. The club Hull ethos doesn't work because the mentality of Hull as a city finds it uncomfortable to act and believe like that.
Things must change, a winning mentality needs driving deep in to the club. If the best spend 5 hours extra a week at training on their technical skills I want to see the youth players pushing for a first team place spending 6 or 7 hours doing extra training. Does that happen at the moment or do the young players feel that just making the FC squad is their ultimate achievement.
I console myself that things can only get better, I'm not sure at the moment.'"
Great post.
I've heard in the past that the problem with having too many homegrown players is that for many of them it has been an ambition fulfilled just to play for Hull Fc. Job done. The difference between those players and Leeds/Wigan for example, is they say that want to WIN something for Wigan/Leeds which goes hand in hand with the post I have quoted. We are they type of city that doesn't really seem to breed that win at all costs, be the best you possibly can mentality - just getting to pull on the black and white is achievement enough and that for me is why club Hull is wrong

Completely agree, every player that comes through the youth set up at Leeds / Wigan / Saints have the attitude that anyone can make the first team squad and pull on the shirt for a game. What they strive for is to play in a Grand Final or at Wembley and the best think about achieving these things and then playing for and Captaining England in World Cup finals.
Even trying to bring in born winners like Ellis isn't enough to drag the local players in particular along the journey to be winners. I can only think it has to change from the U16 and U19 and as they move through the club the attitude slowly changes.

I think he has taken a look at Wigan and believed bringing your own players though is the future. He has totally misread the difference in mentality of the players at each youth set up. If HTW was a Wigan youth player I feel he would already be playing first team rugby because he would have made it known how good he was and proved with performances, attitude and maturity that he was ready to play SL.

| And to think I got lambasted before the season started when I talked about how unprofessional we were in our preparations especially with regard to mental attitude and how Radford was not good enough in any department & going to fail miserably..
IF we get rid of Radford now we can at least salvage some of the season and get prepared for the middle 8s and 2016, we also might avoid more expensive mistakes with contracts (overpaid or otherwise) to has-beings and nobodies that Radford has given out.

| The Giants were nothing special and our inept performance made it easy for them. I said after the Sheffield game unless we are far better in offence we would struggle . Pryce IMO has been one of our best backs this season but last night he was awful he never took the line on and his kicking game was poor and predictable .We were clueless near the line and like at Sheffield just relied on trying to barge over. Would we have done better with Rankin at 6/7 ? dont think we would have, and there would have been more criticism if we had left a fit Sneyd out and still lost.Make no mistake unless major changes are made we can forget top eight, and on that performance championship rugby is a real possibility. The game was built up has a must win game and that was never a must win performance and it rubbed of on the the atmosphere was terrible. Like Wilf has said in the past we go now with no confidence of getting a win and hope for the best. The fans deserve more than that, play well and lose in a great game is acceptable, lose in what was a very poor game is not
