Yes we've played badly, but there are plenty of average teams in this league. If we can grind out some results when we need them there's no reason we can't scrape in.'"
How forlorn and desperate is this last - accurate - sentence. Could anyone believe this would be a realistic post now given where we were 3 years ago? We're supposed to have been through all this after Agar.

Absolutely, 8th wouldn't be good enough by half, but at least we don't have to worry about survival if we get there.
If we do finish 8th it will be interesting to see what Pearson's reaction to it is. If he hails it as a good season I might have to dig out his "never will 8th be seen as a success while I'm in charge" quote for the fans forum, or at least email it to him.

| I just can't believe that Radders didn't rest Pryce, Houghton and Minichiello for starters. They've all played big minutes and after a gruelling Easter they could have done with a rest.
Clearly shows that Radders was worried of a bad result if we weren't near full strength. Perfect time to play some kids.

if we had rested pryce we could easily have lost! even moving sa to 6 didnt help!
rankin was too predictable, high kick to the winger everytime who made metres on each return

I wasn't at the game but I can't see that Pryce would have made much difference regardless of how well he played. Our only tactic is to batter the opposition into submission. We may aswell have played another prop at 6.

pryce, along with paea, was mainly the reason we were out of sight first half
second half was dire, no direction at all!

Chuck in Thompson and I fully agree. Whatever the rights and wrongs of it, given it looked rocky at 12-22 we may well have been out in this round had key players been rested IMO.

It seemed that Pryce was our main attacking threat and his exit from the pitch coincided with our finding it even more difficult than normal to score points.

| The aim today was avoid the banana skin and get into the next round, they did that at a canter, always were in control and fans still moan,if it had been 80-0 the radford out brigade would still find something wrong ,Castleford got spanked by Widnes today a team who we also beat and were always in control and they have the best coach in SL ...so many tell us. Along with Warry,Giants,Widnes and Catalans they have lost the same amount of games we have. Take away the top three and the rest are all in the mix.

We are indeed in the mix, I have argued our case already in this thread. If we managed to get our attack firing then we could even push towards the top 4, never mind the 8, the league is that close.
The fact is that we are terrible with ball in hand, and until we sort that out we aren't going to be able to move forward. Unfortunately we seem incapable of improving. We beat a hugely inexperienced Saints team, ground it out against Widnes thanks to two interceptions, and were hugely uninspiring today by all accounts. We might have won three on the spin, but I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest we are improving. Radford simply isn't the man for the job.

Did we?
Sa (though from what I've seen that's debatable) Sneyd, Ellis and Watts were the only ones not playing that should have been in the starting/strongest 17 by rights.
Saints had 2 teenagers making debut, one of them 17.
They had missing; Burns, Walsh, Lomax, Wilkin, Vea and Percival, possibly you could include Arm waver (Wellens) as he usually gets a bench spot.
If you put the two strongest teams out there, Saints would win every single time.
We won but let's not kid ourselves, aside from the odd flashes of individual excellence we are disorganised in attack at best, luckily for us we have had a pretty good defence so far this year (& well done to the team/coach for that). Leeds/KR aside we've kept things tight but as mentioned upthread we aren't winning the tight games more than we are losing and just don't look capable of scoring against well organised defences that often unless a bit of luck comes our way. Sure 'lucky' tries apply to everyone but we are poor in attack compared to most other clubs.
That said if we win every game until the end of the season then being in attack, relying on individual brilliance, 'lucky' tries & a good defence who am I to criticise?

Shows how poor we really are then if we have to rely on going pretty much full strength to beat a team from a league lower than us.
We should be able to beat them with half the first team and kids playing.
