Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| Quote: Aldy "Page 52 of today's H.D.M. a special report KC lease mess "One question which needs to be answered why did the Council sign off Adam Pearson's sale of the S.M.C. to Russell Bartlett for £6m when they had given it to Pearson for free just a few years earlier"'"
Ah, so when you said "the article in the Hull Daily Mail", you didn't mean "the article in the Hull Daily Mail last referred to in this thread", you meant the article in today's paper copy.
You could confuse a stupid person.
I didn't realise anyone actually bought the HDM anymore.
AP sold his shares in the SMC, a subtle difference to the wording in the HDM.
edit Reads like it was written by Mr Allam.

IIRC HullFC were offered a 50% share in the SMC but couldn't afford it and/or didn't see the value of buying in to it.
The whole thing is a steaming hot pile of mess, only Hull City Council could build a ground from an unexpected windfall, then end up paying to rent space in its own building
I hope the Council have a clause to regain ownership of the SMC on the grounds of mismanagement, and then either take control of it themselves or sell to a completely independent management company (as it should have done in the first place)

| Agreed, the council at the time made this a problem from the off and it's only going to get worse.
The whole stadium could have been a fantastic central point for the community, for the city, with annual events and using the place for all sorts of things, certainly a heck of a lot more than it does now.
I heard that they (SMC) struggled to break even on the big concerts but I reckon that was part of the ploy to not report large profits, typical creative accounting to hide true profit, hardly surprising really.
The council could have made some real money back on the stadium running it themselves but as usual narrow minded/thinking councils just don't have a clue and it's all starting to unravel & fall apart.
the worst of it is, is that is has a direct effect on everything, even down to how shabby the stadium is starting to look in places.

It might as well have been. In the paper copy (yes, I still buy it ) the author is credited as the aforementioned fickwit Fewings. No doubt this is in retaliation to his contemporary over on the politics section, Angus Young, who penned that most unhelpful article the other day which pointed out that Allam knew exactly what he was getting into when he bought the company.
Allam's main argument seems to be that the council have given away control of the stadium by authorising the sale of the SMC to Bartlett from Pearson. Well, doh! That's how Allam was able to get his sweaties on it. As he full well knows - this isn't news to him.
Fickwit's pacifier to his Dr to undo Young's damage is what we see published today. He's got a door to keep open, y'know, and thus much compensatory sliming was called for. Full of could'ves, should'ves, answers which don't actually answer Fickwit's own questions, and imbued with a decent amount of Fewings' nervous sweat and yellow custard, the only question for me is how high the marionette pole was inserted into his rectum while the article was being dictated to him?
Hang on, I've thought of another - who is it that's being investigated for financial irregularities again?

You were told wrong. Hull FC had the chance to become involved at the time but couldn't afford to or chose not to. A bad decision as things have turned out.

Whilst the issue is of a complex nature, the Mail understand it surrounds the way City are funded by owners Assem and Ehab Allam. In their last accounts, it showed they have loaned the club around £64.8m via their holding company Allamhouse Limited, rather than injecting capital into it to be written off.
This means City would not meet the UEFA-imposed criteria surrounding certain "potential break-even breaches".
Not sure if this has been referenced yet on here - the Wail's understanding of the nature of the investigation. Fewings again, mind.

Where they reimbursed by the agreement for the SMC to cover policing & stewarding the purchase of £140,000 worth of Hull Fc Premier Club season passes and to subsidise catering and beer sales?

Noone is sure what your actual point is. But it is pretty much (or rather was) the widespread opinion originally, that Pearson had screwed FC over on behalf of the SMC (his company). So Allam picking and choosing certain aspects of this now to cherry pick, in order to create misinformation and mistrust is idiotic,

Hull's was based on attendances of around 7k, with the SMC receiving very significant income (50% of receipts above 7.5k) which more than compensated for the so called over generous extras when the club was successful.
It was designed to ensuring that Hull didn't struggle too much financially when times were hard.
How catering can make a loss of £70k a year is beyond me. It was a significant income stream at the Boulevard, and was factored into the lease agreement.

the old board get a lot of stick for lots of things, but I still am of the view that the deal they signed at the KC was a good one for the club, which as you say was designed to protect the club if times were hard. The deal offered stability which at a club that was on the verge of financial disaster for most of the 90s was badly needed.
I don't think even the most optimistic FC fan predicted that average crowds would hit the 13-14K mark like we did in the mid 00s, and back then there were no lucrative derby games to be had. The club would find it even harder on the 10k gates we get now if we had to fork out for stewarding.
I agree that it is very fishy that catering can loose so much money, they pay the staff the bare minimum (mostly under 21 rate minimum wage) a lot of the items they sell have long shelf-life, and the sky high prices are well known.

| With regards to the "loss & subsidy" of the catering, The (HKR) Daily Mail have worded it to sound like the subsidy is soley FC's when in fact it includes the football club in that.
