Fair point, the back three would be Murphy, Grix, mcgivery. All safe as houses under the high bomb and have great positional sense. Very difficult for a team to get anything from kicking towards these three

In yards, yes. On the floor, no IMO. Our forwards still spend far too much time on their backs.

He had a good game.'"

Pretty much agree with that, for the most part the officials were decent. It just so happened though that the 2 worst calls of the night cost us tries and turned the game/momentum. We might have got away with a little bit more than we deserved around the ruck at times, but we didn't get any obviously bad calls in our favour that granted us additional possession/points, they did.

Agreed. Galea didn't cover himself in glory with the ease with which he was ran around, but it was still Green's misread that created the hole.

I think Galea's try (and the one against Widnes) showed that he can still run a good line and be devastating in a straight line, but several times already this season we have seen that he struggles to change direction and is not as agile as he once was. I do wonder if a bit of rotation could help him out though, he's playing far too many minutes.

Overall I don't think we did too badly. I think the game swung in a 5 minute period around the hour mark, with 4 key things happening: First, the dodgy dropout call which led to a try. Second, Cudjoe's tackle on McDonnell. We go in there and I think we grab the ascendency back. Third, Lynch's forward pass. Fourth, Wardle's forward pass going unpunished and the gap being opened. The latter 2 completely swung the momentum of the game to Hudds and we simply weren't capable of chasing the game. Don't think we deserved the last try, gave the scoreline a misrepresentative look IMO.

Also, whilst our attack clearly has it's failings, I do think that people aren't quite giving the Hudds defence it's due. Our misfiring attack still scored as many points as anyone has at Hudds this season outside of the Bradford game when they were without Brough, and more than both Leeds and Saints managed against them when at home. We played a good team in red hot form and very nearly managed to nick a result, not to be sniffed at.

Murphy was probably the strongest of the three rather than the weakest- grix is ok under the high ball - but can't run the ball in strongly - so kick to grix and immediately hit him there's the possibility he will fluff it. Either by dropping it or panicking. Jerry weakest of three under the high ball but is short compared to your guys so always the chance they can get it if the chase is good - he will run the ball in strongly but usually does so after a good run up- if you prevent that run up he's not as effective.

Defence was excellent as was the effort. It was fairly clear to me that Holdsworth wasn't fit, he didn't look right all night and it told. A couple of calls went against us but these things happen. For me the biggest issue is still our attack. It's no better now than it was with Agar. Ball movement is slow, no dummy runners and the ball just doesn't get wide often enough. Twice we got the ball wide early and both times Arundel and Crooks almost broke through.

Effort is great but once again we have failed to win a tight game against a top side.

Also we have we stopped offloading the ball? One way to get around a lack of creativity is to offload the ball and play in broken play and quick ptbs can be gained from this too. When we do it we play well (Leeds H) and (Bulls A) to name two.

What do you guys think to Horne's form this year? Although he didnt do much kicking vs Hudds, i thought he looked decent in attack and he has some power that i think we struggled to contain at times, i dont know if he has played much loose forward before but if he's fit enough i think he would go well there for you.

But he wouldnt really change the way he plays, he would still get it 2nd man out for example. We have a good group of forwards so we stick one of the more obile props at 13, either Watts or Green. Once the tracks get a bit dryer then we should see more of an offload game from a group of forwards that are capable of doing this

We never get a good crowd when we are on TV. Had it been Sunday afternoon it would have been 7-8000. And Hull brought the smallest contingent I have seen for many years, I think a lot of them stopped at home and watched it on TV like a lot of ours did.

Quote: heard1989 "Think overall it was a good match. It was nice to see some passion in the shirt again. I thought we played for the full 80 and did cause threats in there 20, but again failed to capitalize. 3 disallowed tries maybe?? Some curious calls by bentham but it's officials for ya nowadays.

Only thing i want to say about the official is, How the heck can the touch judge call that from the far side when the closer touch judge said ok?? Isn't there a momentum rule anymore?? There third try was more forward then that an Bentham was yards from them.

Were starting quite slow but i still feel we will be in the 8 come end of season. Top four, don't think so. Wasn't expecting a win, expected a heavy loss but from that performance even though we lossed. I'm happy with it (performance that is)'"

We could all see it in the stand, it was a couple of metres forward not just borderline, all I can say is the nearest touch judge must have been unsighted when the ball was passed.
It wasn`t hard for the far touch judge to see it, he only had to look in a straight line across the field.

I don't think anyone doubts he got it right. What annoys us is that he missed one right under his nose. Consistency is all we ask for.
