| Looking at that possession graph we did well to keep them below 50 points.

It's a disgrace. I always it's not just about what is given, it's how much they get away with.
Also, Gentle's first real foot wrong for me. Heremaia does not work at scrum half and never really has, and he always said he wouldn't move players around if he could help it.

| According to Gentle our second half completion rate was just 50%. That's poor against any side, let alone Wire.

We have a decent halfback pairing. One half of it was out injured tonight.
Any side that plays 3 different HB pairings in 4 games is going to lack fluency in attack.'"
Yeah, I'm more worried about the forwards. I think Holdsworth/Horne as a combination shows promise - I just hope we can get them both out there together for an extended run.
I don't think we've replaced Moa adequately, and our lack of forward power seems to result in us playing the game at a slower pace than the top teams.

Don't be silly, there was a couple of dodgy decisions both ways but you certainly weren't hard done to.
It was a good game, although in the first half Wire just seemed to be just going through the motions, once they got out of 1st gear there only looked one winner.
Briscoe's mind seems to be elsewhere, Lineham looks a great prospect, exciting player.

Which goes back to your earlier point about why we have to defend so much. We gave Bradford far too much cheap possession, but they lacked the necessary ability to capitalise. Wire are quite a different proposition.

| I thought we got the 50/50 calls tonight but also thought we did well to stay patient and kept Hull at bay in the 2nd half with some composed well built pressure. Our strike players were the difference IMO.

During that 15 minute period where they scored their tries they had 12 out of 13 sets played. In the whole half they had 22 sets against our 15 and made way more yards per set on average. The graph was a big wadge of yellow on their side and a lot less white on ours.

| Holdsworth missed the game due to concussion. Hopefully back soon then.

Some of that lost possession - not all of it - was down to us tiring and trying to push things when we were chasing the game. We did a huge amount of tackling even in the first half and our completion rate then was 86% or so.
Our forwards are too small without Watts and Ellis available. Wire have a big pack. It was a mismatch that we were always going to struggle with. Add in some unforced errors and some unsympathetic calls from the officials and you get tonight.
As Gentle said post-match, we seem to go through a 15 minute rough patch every game and against the better sides we don't have the capability to recover from it.

| Just coming back now and I thought they were the better side but I still feel a little hard done to. We seemed to suffer on the 50/50 calls (might be B&W specs you get when there of course) but also we lacked the rub of the green/bounce of the ball you often need.
That 3 sets on the bounce ending in a try killed us IMO and we were always going to struggle from there.
Positives for me though is I think we showed we can put a half back partnership together even when one is injured (I don't want to get into the Heremaia is a hooker argument, he can certainly do a job), and I thought our kicking was good in the first half which when I heard Holdsworth was out I really didn't think I'd be saying that post match (2nd half we didn't really have the ball enough to continue a good kicking game). And great to see Tickle back.
One thing though, we really need to start pressurising the opposition kicker, we were awful at it and let them get so many good kicks away putting us under pressure and giving them tries.
6/10, not awfully but must try harder!

As I said in an earlier post, we haven't adequately replaced Moa (or, arguably, Manu). Unless we get Watts and Ellis back and then keep them both fit for the remainder of the year (without losing other key forwards like Lynch or O'Meley), it'll be the story of the season.

| There really wasnt alot between the sides. We seemed to come out in the second half desperate to get an early try on the board and as a result we coughed up possession and gave them a chance to show just what a good side they are in that 10 minute burst. A bit of patience might have seen us over the line.
Lots of positives though. That performance would have beaten most sides. Lineham is a future international for sure and he and Crooks showed signs of a good partnership. I thought Johnson showed up really well again and McDonnell continues to impress me. Watts coming back will give us a bit more punch and an offload threat which I think we need.
Just got to get our heads down now and grind out a few results. Huddersfield aside, our next 8 matches are all ones that we should be winning.
