I can think of 4 possibilities:

Either they thought his head wasn't right after being told;
Gentle doesn't see the point as he wants rid;
He's being frozen out to ensure he leaves;
We have some sort of clause to get rid based on appearances, and we don't want to jeopardise it.

2-3 seem a bit harsh, but possibly necessary.

Surely he wouldn't be available for selection then, though, and it says in the statement that he is.

On the 16:25 Radio Humberside sports news the interview with McRea had said that O'Carroll wasn't selected for his own best interest as he could have been injured, and that he hasn't necassarily played his last game for Hull FC. On the 17:25 sports desk it was edited ommitting the part about picking up an injury and not playing his last game............maybe Gollum up to a bit of mischief.

Don't really see the point in waiting all that time and then releasing a statement that leaves more questions open than it answers.

I am not having a go at you Carl but if the whole thing has not been sorted out yet it is up to the person/player to keep his own counsel. To much said on Twitter/Facebook -this was put out by O'Carroll late on Saturday night - he should have sat on it. My opinion only and not having a go at any-one.

Why on earth should he? He's been told he's leaving us, the club are clearly not showing him any loyalty so why should he cover for them?

Agreed on the first point. He should have been mature enough to realise it was up to the club to announce he was to be released.

Not sure about the second, although it's not without precedent. To be honest most of the tweets from players centre around Nandos and name-calling each other.

Oh, I'm not saying O'Carroll is blameless about the twitter thing, far from it. I'm just saying that I don't see why the club didn't have that statement prepared and then release it once they'd told him. They must have had some inkling he wouldn't take too kindly to it, and it was leaked on here as well so it was just inviting rumours and speculation. Waiting until the day after he's left out of the team just seems strange.

could definitely have been handled better, but that is a fairly frequent occurence, even under AP, which makes me think it's more syptomatic of the culture.

To right -Midnight on Saturday Night clubs do not make statements. As it is do we know the reasons for his release yet.

Nor do I believe midnight on a Saturday night is when clubs tell players they are surplus to requirements, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.
