| Quote: PAUL M "I meant in terms of giving players renewals.
Martin was only ever meant to be a one season and we tried for a centre in the winter so that would seem obvious. With Moa likely to go then a prop would also be a no brainer. SO is more my own thoughts about how to take us forward and would involve paying Horney off.
I would not automatically be giving Ogre another deal just yet.'"
I don't disagree with that. In fact I never actually outright said I'd definitely get rid of Turner, just that I'd be preparing for it as so far I wouldn't be inclined to keep him unless he improves defensively. It just would seem to me that if you think we still need a centre you must be leaning towards Turner leaving as well as Martin, so you kind of have made a decision (or at least have one in mind). This is my stance too, and seems entirely sensible to me (and plenty of others, judging by centre being consistently identified by people as a priority area to recruit). That's why I don't understand Voodooroo seeming to have a problem with me basically saying what many others already have, just because he had a good game last week.

Our aspirations for signing top class centres, SO's, props, and potentially Ellis doesn't look too promising when you think what salary cap could/will be free'd up + the reported 60K going spare.
Don't think Sharp will be going anywhere, certainly not if Briscoe goes down under (would leave us looking for 2 new wingers)
Martins age & lack of pace will see him go but Turner to stay for me, as him and Yeamo our only 2 real options for centre and we'll need another good one from somwhere.
If Moa and O'Meley (i'd keep both) do return down-under then we'll need to spend big bucks on like-for like replacements! Manu's got to stay if possible as he's one of best SR's in SL and still is a 'game changer'.
Apart from sacrificing some of the kids listed, this just leaves Burnett, Aspinwall, and Whiting as the senior pro's who might join Martin on the exit list. Asuming Martin, Burnett (and even Aspinwall) are on relatively low wages it isn't going to give PG and SM very much cash to splash !

Depending on cap space I wouldn't et rid of Turner tbh. I would try and keep him as a utility player, back row and centre. I don't think he will be on a huge wage. He's excellent in attack but lets himself down in defence but with a year under Gentle that may change?

Hopefully it will. It's just a questionable use of cap space to me. If it's spare, fair enough, but I think out of the OOC players something's got to give somewhere.

| Leeds fans think Ellis is nailed on to sign there, apparently his dad has told someone he is signing for Leeds, wouldn't really be a surprise and can't really blame him.
Must keep Whiting, O Meley and Manu. I'd sign them now (Along with Moa, but think he will go)
The rest I still playing for contracts IMO.
Hopefully Jamie Ellis will come good and Seymour can play standoff, meaning Horne can be utility back or right centre (where he would do a good job IMO).

| Doesn't the cap only cover our top 25 earners?
Pointless to release players like Green, Pearce, Nicklas if we don't gain cap space.

| Tbh I'd look to bring in current sl players, if Moa returns to aus I'd certainly look at Liam Watts.

| Now we are best friends with them.
I'd test Rovers out with a bid for Scott Taylor, best young forward about IMO.

| I can't see it, HKR wont give him up without a fight.

He wanted to sign for us and would have taken less cash, but KR offerded a longer contract. Ridiculous by Agar and the last board to miss out on him. Thankfully we have a complete new set up. Agar kept Thackray and Kingy instead of Scotty Wheeldon, let Josh Hodgson go after being player of the season in the under 20s, when we could have let him go out on loan and brought him back when Berro left he couldnt deal with Kids.
