and plenty of chance for some of the kids to stake a claim. I'm disappointed that some of them didnt get more game time last year and if you look at Wigan they seems to be calling kids up every week for debuts. I know there's a balance to strike but when we have a squad with less depth of experienced players i'd really hope to see more of Cunningham, Kent, Green, Jack Briscoe for example.
I think Cunningham is a future star based on his performance in France last year against a sizeable Catalans pack. Now's the time to give them some game time. I'd rather we finish 10th by playing the kids than 9th by panic buying.

| We could play Sharp at FB, Give more game time to Lyne.
Or..... make a loan offer for Jones-Bishop.
No need to panic, or make knee -jerk signings.

Sorry - had to disappear for a bit. My reasoning is that I think Sammut is a 1 primarily and Turner is a developing half-back. But, I take your point and putting Sammut at 6 is a definite positive option. The problem for me is it puts Whiting at 1 where he will provide fewer opportunities for players around him. Sammut can strike from deep, Whiting can't.
We do have the small problem of him not being a Hull FC player but, that minor inconvenience aside, I think he won't mind playing in either spot.

| I can only echo what others have said - the club have made the correct decision.
This leaves us woefully short on numbers but Tansey is cleary not committed to being a professional rugby league player. What a complete fool, he earnt a good living doing what he loved. I only hope he is left clubless and no other SL team offers him a deal.

| Well done FC.
As regards new player(s)/half-back cover the club will have to recruit in the context of their half-back plans for 2012, including what might happen to Longy's contract. If they've got someone earmarked for next (2012) season they need to sign someone now who offers the right sort of flexibility as we can't expect a top-notch specialist to sign for just one season.

Or that he learns his lesson and is able to control himself and rebuild his career and, therefore, life with another club.

| Glad it is over and he has got what he deserves. The right decision by the club regardless of how it leaves us playing wise.

Sammut is 5 foot 7 and about 12 stone soaking wet. Sammut takes risks, much better that he trys things at 6 or 7, rather than as the last line of defence.

Spot on. The only thing I would add is that, in hindsight, we could/should have tried to offload him after the second incident.

I agree, it weakens us in the short-term, but in the medium/long term it shows that the club aren't willing to be taken for a ride by uncommitted players.

I agree. Haven't seen as much of these kids as some, but frankly, what is the point of investing in them if they're never going to get a go. It would be difficult if we had to field several debutants all at once, but that wouldn't seem to be necessary. There may always be doubts about whether any player can step up to the next level, but you generally find out more by trying them. Personally I'd much rather see us play some of the youngsters, in their regular positions where they'll be more likely to be comfortable, playing alongside experienced heads also playing in their natural positions, rather than shuffle around "cover" players and end up with half a team playing out of position which has sometimes been the case in the last couple of seasons. I'm not saying we shouldn't recruit, but I don't think we should rush out in desperation when we have lads who have come through the ranks and who would give their all for the shirt and be supported by the fans who would recognise them for doing so.
