[quote="The Dentist Wilf":ordztzb0]I for one wish him well... One thing is for sure despite what a lot on here said he was not sacked or under any sort of investigation...Good luck Mr Rule![/quote:ordztzb0]:

Quote: Kosh "You do realise that Rule isn't the sole arbiter of who our head coach is, don't you? Quite possibly not even the main one? Blaming the decision of a BOD on one man is ignoring how things actually work.'"

I realise I'm over simplifying it but:

Rule is the Chief Exec
He has said many times that he makes the decisions
He has backed Agar to the hilt to anyone that will listen
He has orchestrated a huge spin campaign in Agars favour

You might well argue that the above things are only doing his job but for me the fact he's prepared to do them means I can reasonably hold him responsible.

As you demonstrate by quoting me I compared Rich Agar's tactical nous to that of a suicide bomber's , I didn't 'refer to Rich Agar as a suicide bomber'... I understand if you can't grasp the difference.

'Slanderous' relates to the spoken word.

SURELY you don't need me to explain what 'false' means?

That's the last I'll say on the matter.

If berro was leaving, I think it would have been sorted a long time ago. The only way I would be happy to see him leave would be that we're clearing cap space to sign a decent half back. Just cant see who is available at this moment in time. To lose berrigan and not bring in a class replacement would be criminal

All he is saying is that Agar is as much a tactician as a suicide bomber would be. Nothing wrong in that, and to be fair the suicide bomber knowing his/her life was to end shortly would not worry about playing 'safe' rugby and would be more willing to take a risk.

P.S. I am in no way asking that we get a suicide bomber as our next coach icon_smile.gif

Remove that word and you'd be nearer the truth.

He's no more or less responsible for Agar's appointment and retention than any other director.

thought the last bomber we had did pretty well, at least played some good enterprising rugby

Quote: carl_spackler "Fair enough, and I agree that he should be given a chance there. I just don't share your certainty that he'll do as well at centre, and certainly not this season.

A step up in class can sometimes mean a slight change of position (at least for a while) to get the best from players. Briscoe's one on one strength is a huge asset up against other wingers, but maybe not so much against bigger players in the centres (and likely additional tacklers too). Blasting through was also another way he looked good in the juniors at centre, but it is a much different proposition for him now. Being directly up against the likes of Darrell Goulding, Kallum Watkins, Jodie Broughton, (centres in junior rugby, still mainly wingers so far at first team level) is a whole different ball game outmuscling bigger blokes like Keith Senior and Martin Gleeson. I think centre should still be in his future but not yet.'"

I think Briscoe's big strenghth has been his , well , strenghth. For a young guy he's demonstrated some real power especially when he's returning kicks from our line in the middle and against the big men. Agar , I think , said that he was looking forward to seeing "that big backside" powering up the middle when he was talking about his future. He's not a greyhound type winger and in our team he's had to make most of his own opportunities using his strength and then speed. He seems bright enough too. The unknown is whether he can bring a winger into the game , learn when to pass etc but he has to be worth a go. He has as many of the attributes of a centre as all of our other potential and actual centres perhaps with the exception of Berrigan who may be gone anyway.

Well no, I'd be nearer your opinion.

All I'm saying is he puts himself forward as a figurehead for such decisions, therefore if I want someone above Agar to hold responsible it's going to be him.

That is not strictly true Kosh. He made a point at the last fans forum that he is the one who makes a lot of the decisions, although ultimately they will go before the rest of the board. He pointed out that KH was more of a background chairperson (is it chairperson in these silly politically correct days???) and she left the day to day running of the club to him.

I get where both of you are coming from on this and can see both sides. However I have no qualms with Rule as i think overall he does his job excellently. He along with the rest of the staff have brought the club up and out of debt which i will always be very grateful for. The playing side is a different matter but ultimately that falls on Agar. The club are not going to go and sack him for what we percieve to be a poor season simply because it will cost the club money. However if the performances have a wave like effect and cause profits to drop significantly then Agar would be shown the door.
