The poor man's bonaire:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32641.jpg

Quote: BP1 "Whilst not everyone is a "doom and gloom merchant", there are very few people (either on this board or within the fanbase in general) who truely believe Richard Agar is the right man for us. I'm guessing the Agar fan club must be concentrated in whichever part of the ground you sit, because it sure as hell isn't anywhere near me.
Someone buying a season pass is not an automatic endorsement of whats being served up in front of them. Similarly, just because someone disagrees with the coaching set-up at their club, it doesn't automatically follow that they will refuse to attend.
Supporters follow the club through thick and thin (In any kind of weather as a certain song goes) and will still turn up even when they disagree with the direction the club is taking. Some of us where here long before Mr Agar and we will still be here long after he has departed.

You and I are quite clearly on opposite sides of the Agar out debate, but I have to say I have a certain admiration for your assertion that "at some point Agar will achieve and get the silverware". At least you have nailed your colours firmly to the mast. You're completely delusional as far as I'm concerned, but at least you're delusional with convictions which at least makes you better than the "well, I don't really believe in him but lets give him two years to prove us wrong" brigade.

FWIW, I have never believed Richard Agar is the man for us right from day one, as I said to someone as we were walking out of the Stoop after Peter Sharp's last game in charge. I have continued to hold that belief ever since. Even after this years games against Saints & rovers I was still convinced that he wasn't the man for us. All we have done is waste two years worth of opportunities which we then proceeded to compound on 1st April this year by committing ourselves to a further two years of wasted opportunities (In my opinion of course). If the club had grabbed the bull by the horns in May 2008 and made a concious decision to aim for the very top of the game, we could be looking at real glory right here, right now. Whatever Wigan & Warrington have achieved over the course of the last twelve months, there is absolutely no reason why our club could not do the same. But in order to do so requires vision and inspiration and not simply dull conformity and settling for a mediocre second best.

You obviously will not agree with these sentiments, as stated above, and therefore one of us is going to be proved wrong at some point in time. My money's on you having to come over to our side of the argument (you will, just you wait and see) as you slowly realise the delusion of your fantasy and how Jake & Junior tried to tell you.

In the meantime, I shall look out for you at the KC next time out. Presumably you will be the one starting the chorus of "Richard Agar's barmy army" that we all hear ringing around the ground at every home game since May 2008. Or is that just selective deafness on my part that stops me from hearing the sound of 12000 others singing their unwavering support for our inspirational coach.'"

Well said. It's those of us who continue to turn up week in, week out, despite having no belief in the coach who are the real fans icon_wink.gif

Quote: Jake the Peg "So you think all of our players are playing to their full potential then?'"

No. Sadly.

Quote: Jake the Peg "or do you believe the wigan players aren't reaching their potential?'"

Yes. Also sadly.

That's probably why they're sat at the top of the table. We're not. And we got handed our backsides last week.

You seem to be confusing potential with actual ability. A lower ability player at 100% of his potential isn't going to be as good as a better player at a lower percentage of his actual potential.

Different coach with a different approach. Bomber 'moulded' Horne into a half-back. What might he HAVE achieved in a different position?

Good post!

I think I differ in that 'I am not yet 'convinced' that he is not the right man for the job'
I do have huge doubts about him, and I have seen nothing so far to give me even a glimmer of hope, that he could be the right man for the job.

A question that I would ask those who would be backers of Agar;
If relegation had still been a threat, would he still be on the island as head coach?

Given we are now in a fitness race with certain players to be ready for our charge at the playoffs, yes i think any coach would be happy and i know our board are very happy with where we are.
Not 100% on a few result we have had but they also realise that is the nature of professional sport.. some you win and some you do not!!
Ask the wire board!!!
were very lucky to have a young british honest upstanding fella in charge that does not go missing when things get tough !!

I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011. Money doesn't talk it swears, Obscenity who really cares, Propaganda all is phony. I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar. Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way. A man who lives in hell can still aspire to heaven.:cartoons/WB17.gif

I think you probably represent the views of about 95% of the faithful who, like you, would love to be able to believe in Agar but who cannot stop the nagging doubts eating away at the back of their mind. I reckon the vast bulk of our supporters are currently torn between their natural instincts of backing the club in any kind of weather and the unease of knowing that something is simply just not quite right under this regime. I get the feeling from the post above that deep down you know which side of the argument you will ultimately fall on. I think there are a lot of our supporters who are simply hoping against hope that somehow all will turn out well in the end without truely believing that it will.

The remaining 5% of us are split into two very distinct camps. On the one hand is the group who made up their minds some while ago. Our view is Mr Agar isn't good enough for the job in hand. He never was and never will be, and for as long as he remains in charge we will continue to go round in ever decreasing circles.

Finally, there is the smallest group of all. The ones who, despite all evidence to the contrary, actually believe we made the right appointment in May 2008. This group (I shall call them the delusionals) are the modern day equivilent of the flat earth society. Steadfastly sticking to their beliefs that the chosen one shall lead them to the promised land leaving the non believers behind.
I honestly don't know whether to admire these people for their myopic vision or pity them for their inability to see the light. Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do.

One things for sure, this argument is going to run and run and...

To call them delusional is harsh, just becuase they have a belief in Agar does not make them delusional. It is a bit like calling all religious people delusional.
I think they are wrong, but there opinions are as valid as yours and mine, as long as they make them in a sensible way and don;t revert to name calling etc.
