I think we had a SL record attendances for a opening round a few years back by having mostly derbies .

I think they did, but opening games always draw a good crowd and not every derby will be a loop game. I think Wigan-Saints is down for magic for example.
Speaking of Magic it seems theres no clue when or where it will be, makes me suspect football grounds are interested in an August/September slot but lets see. |

Sky Bet are apparently offering odds on these fixtures for weekend 10th/11th August which suggests that's when Magic weekend will happen
Catalans Dragons vs Hull KR
Huddersfield Giants vs Castleford Tigers
Hull FC vs London Broncos
Leigh Leopards vs Salford Red Devils
Warrington Wolves vs Leeds Rhinos
Wigan Warriors vs St Helens
Not sure how that date would work though as it's around when the Premier League will be kicking off.

I like Newcasle but part of me wonders if somewhere new injects a bit of life into it. Nottingham isnt a bad shout, good city for bars and at 30k capacity a good chance it would sell out (60k is the usual weekend figure)
In the longer term Everton's new stadium worth a go too, top class 53k ground and crucially close to Liverpool centre unlike Anfield which is a trek.

Nottingham would be a good shout
As good as Newcastle is a change probs best for a few seasons spread it around the country a bit
Liverpool is too close to heartlands imo the whole idea of magic weekend is to try promote the game is other areas |

So the NRL don't have a huge TV deal then ???
Kind of got it when the sponsorship from Sky was massive, but in real terms it has dropped like a stone.
Surely fans are entitled to more notice of game switches than is currently the case ?

According to betting sites Magic is 10th/11th August, and theyve put Grand Final tickets on sale for 12th October. Heard a rumour Hull will go on holiday from 1st August   |
