| Don't be surprised if Smith picks up a championship player (or 2), he seems to have a knack of spotting decent ones

Would give us 2 quota places and a good chunk of cash to bring in 3 good forwards. One UK and 2 overseas players.'"
Griffin and Taylor wil probably get a rolling one year deal at a reduced rate for me agree on the other four, can see Danny moving onto coaching side probably defence definitely not attack
Agree with Dave, for me Houghton, Shaul, Lovodua & Evans would be ones that we should not offer any deals too. Think so far Griffin has been actually been pretty good in the 2nd row so would be worth keeping subject to price and what other suitable options are available. Taylor just not sure whether he is worth a years deal to be fair as think he like Evans just needs replacing.
I'd look closely at Lane and Savelio with a view to moving Lane on if he doesn't pick up any form, with Savelio if he has a relatively injury free season then he'd be worth extending.
Satae is a must to re sign as not many out there that would give us what he does. Sao I'd maybe offer a 1 year deal as do think we'd get more from Ligi in terms of performance and less penalties conceded if we had better options in the pack other than Taylor & Evans. I'd also look at tying Jack Brown down for another year or two.
Hooker the jurys out and will be dependant on how well Balmforth progresses this season but think we need a Parcell type 9.
Certainly a lot of thinking to be done by Smith & Pearson and decisions they have to get right.

| It's going to be a tough assignment for TS for next seasons recruitment , The last few seasons hasn't been great for SL player pool quality or NRL imports . I can see a few players been promoted from within .

| People Nedd to forget about previous seasons, both Taylor and Griffin are now injury free, both started the season well.
Look at the market and players available, we aren't going to easily replace half the squad.
If there form continues then I'd offer them both one year deals, new coach, fresh start.
Some posters just can't let go of previous opinions.

Taylor been so good that he was dropped to the bench for Saints. He is making himself a laughing stock with the missed big hits he tries to do.Better display at Saints but needs to go.
Griffin is bang average and just filing a gaping hole we have in the second row which many of us highlighted as a real weak link with the departure of Mau.
To have 20 players off contract end of this season is really bad management and the club cant afford any more to be sentimental with senior players.
They need to go

Player don't get dropped to the bench, they get dropped or are in the 17, just changing things up. It's a 17 man game and all of the 17 play an part. particularly with the forwards. Sometimes Satae is on the bench, sometimes Taylor.
Griffin and Savelio is decent backrow pairing, but they haven't played there, certainly need some more depth and quality, weak link is Lane at the moment. Let's be honest you will never give Griffin any credit, no matter what he does, you have something in your head and cannot get rid of it, probably need to see someone about it

| Anyone clued up on the nrl reserve league or nrl who can suggest some realistic Props or Second Rows?
I think a big emphasis will go on promoting youth, backed up by about 4 signings. Wouldnt suprise me to see Matty English, as well as 2 overseas signings possibly a loose forward and a second Row who pack a punch in attack and defense.

Not English. He's just signed a contract extension at Huddersfield.

| I'd take a look at Owen Trout from Hudds since they've kept English. He's only 23. Had big raps at Leeds and has done well since moving to Hudds.
Jayden Berrell would be worth a shot too if we are looking for a new 9. Dominated the Q Cup in 2021 (I think) moved to the Sharks but hasn't really had a shot. Cronulla are really well covered at hooker. Had a very good year in the NSW Cup last season too.
He's too good for the aussie reserve grade, but just hasn't got a decent go in 1st grade.

Was it you who mentioned Amone would be a good signing? Any current reserve grade second rows or props worth a punt? I think Satae needs some help we need a busy prop who makes good consistent yards.

| Oh to have Motu Tony back , he had a great eye for very good under the radar signings . The reserve game in Australia is littered with big bad South Sea Islanders but let’s be honest - at the moment why come to Hull to put yourself in the window? Got a better shot in the NSW Cup where they can attract potential suitors .
