This is the kind of thing my club Leigh would do (with all due respect as we are usually in the championship) but give the head coach role to someone who has never done it before. Obviously when you put 60 past us at our place, you looked like a rather good side.
I would have liked McNamara, I think he would have come last season, but no chance now.
Alot of the successful coaches have been NRL assistant coaches, Holbrook, McGuire, Woolf.
But it's a gamble, I think he will stay, but I wouldn't be bothered if he went.
I'd really look to change the backroom staff, I'd bring in Lee Briers for one.
Big chances needed on and off the pitch, again.

| On paper Hull are a top 6 side at the very least. I know it's a lopsided league table due to win percentages, but I'm amazed you won only 8 games out of 21.

| Of their is any evidence of either him or Fonua doing anything wrong that we could cancel their contracts we should be doing it.
Those two off the cap and the extra two quota spots could make a massive difference to the squad.

I see nothing. The last couple of months have been dire and have steadily gotten worse. I have been really disappointed in his ability to address the current slide which has seen us lose to basically everyone in the last few weeks without any sign of improvement. He hasn't been able to galvanise the side or rally them into a response. I've seen no shoots of progress under him, the style of rugby is one dimensional in both attack and defence. His use of interchanges is appaling. He simply doesn't inspire confidence. Convince me otherwise.

I think for a lot of fans who have experienced a lot of coaches over the years feel that the fact that his comments on the attitude and feeling and indeed the wanting in the camp leading up to games bears no resemblance to what happens when the team actually takes to the field is a telling indication. Its acceptable occasionally of course it is, attitude is a difficult one to control but of late it has been a regular occurrence. talk like world beaters play like egg beaters.

| Ian Watsons Huddersfield were meant to be dark horses this season but all we've heard from him is about how it takes time to put systems in place, it looks like FC are in the same boat, Huddersfield made plenty of changes for this season and look what it did for them.
Hodgsons problem is that he's got a very vocal boss that's probably putting more pressure on him with his comments.

Yes but there always has been and always will be more pressure on the coach at clubs like Hull FC, Leeds and Warrington compared to, say, Huddersfield, Hull KR and Castleford. Doesn't matter who the owner or coach is at any particular time.

| There’s been a common theme at the club regarding culture, all the way back to when Bomber first called it out.
The promises of reviews and changes won’t wash anymore, as we’ve heard it countless times over the years.
I’m at the point that I’d rather be part time, in a league below, watching players put a shift in and enjoying watching rugby again.

I get that but the point I'm making is that it won't be helping Hodgson when his Boss is telling everyone that there's going to be massive changes to the playing squad, that just adds to the pressure, I only used Watson as a comparison as he was new in the job to and had a lot of expectations on him aswell.

| As it stands and I hope it will change, but I'm not sure there will be a set of fans less confident about next season, even Hudds, they have a few new players coming in and some exciting youngsters.
We look like having a similar squad and going into next season with the worst pivots in SL.

I tried saying on here the other day that the best way to fill your squad out is by bringing in younger hungry lads from the championship, they maybe won't be first team starters but after being in a full time environment you'd hope they'll get there so when injuries bite there ready. IMHO opinion the player pool isn't big enough to make wholesale changes, which is probably why your linked with Joe Wardle

The only way we can bring in the quality players needed would be to either play transfer fees or sign from overseas, the 2nd option would mean trying to release a couple of contracted overseas players.

It's pretty rare that players are released early from contracts Dave because that means paying them off and there isn't a lot of money in rugby to pay them off with is there?

I think AP has done it once before, when he paid off a few players , the likes of Arundel etc. I’m sure he said It cost him upwards of £250K (might have remembered the amount wrong though, might have been even more).
We haven’t got the money to do it now for sure. Now AP has alluded to changing the squad around, it could actually make things more difficult. Other clubs will know we’re desperate to get rid, and it will be easy for them to play hardball.
There again, who would want some of them on the wages they’re on?
