No offence to Reynolds but our fans are getting excited over him and he's only a 4 cap origin goer
Compared to inglis who's one of the best and a true world class superstar(I think our fans would of had white stuff if we signed him! )
Reynolds hasn't played much last 2 years either but doesn't stop our fans from thinking he's one of the best
Hope Reynolds is better than Kelly was for us but I'm not convinced he will be

| Tui and Griffin are both good players but neither are brilliant players - neither score enough tries in a season to make us title contenders like the Wigan or Saints centres do

To be fair, our centres don't get as much good ball as Wigan or Saints centre's do

I think Josh Reynolds is a very good fit for us at the moment, he will probably spark that inventiveness which has been somewhat lacking in the past, especially twenty or so yards out.
Admittedly it was only against York, but he was up and down the line like Greg Mackey or Patrick Entat, good times predicted with the Sneyd/Connor/Reynolds combination.
You say Reynolds is only a four cap origin goer, we’ve come along way if that accolade isn’t good enough.
Undoubtedly the great Inglis is a mega superstar, but he has done it all, and his reasons for not playing the last two seasons may be about desire, I think Reynolds still has something to prove, and hopefully he will do that with us.
Regarding Albert and the similar comparison, I think we probably released him at the right time, he was fantastic when fit, a gifted maverick who was individually brilliant, perhaps what we now need rather than ex superstars like Inglis, or injury prone greats like Albert, is a guy like Reynolds, still hungry for the game.

Signing a 4 cap origin is "how far weve come" what!?
I'd say its how far down us and super league has gone
Wasn't that long ago we was signing international star players like Jason Smith, Stephen Kearney and Richard swain
Now were lucky if we get a origin player

It may of escaped your attention, but the game is in dire financial stress at present, with numerous owners admitting the perilous situation. I’m thankful we still have a club to support,
And to replace one class half with another, is blooming marvellous. Then again I suppose you can please some of the people, some of the time, as they say.

Exactly under the previous coaching we never utilised the players to their strengths or had any real attacking structures to play the edges, invariably the centres were used like temporary forwards to give front row a breather. We never got quick enough ball to the edges and even when Pritchard was here we wasted his talent by simply using him as an extra prop. I think under Hodgson we will see Sneyd and Reynolds being a much more influential pairing who will create a lot more opportunities for the backs. Hopefully gone are the days simply relying on a maverick play and kicks to the corner and we will now have the opposition 2nd and 3rd guessing our attacking line to create openings.

Agree with you re Inglis Mike.
Inglis there is no questioning his talent but he is now 34 and has not played in 2 years as he retired, so whether he can replicate his previous levels of performance is questionable its a very small list of players who can rediscover previous form when coming back out of retirement with many simply calling it a day again. As for Reynolds not playing its a completely different situation as he was still training and playing reserve grade only being kept out the 17 due to the coach preferring Marshall who was playing well so the two situations are nothing like each other.
To be quite honest I'm not that wowed by Naigama either as playing in the St's side they have I thought he would have been much more prolific and whilst Tupou is a good centre I think both Carlos & Griffin are better than him. Percival and Gildart are as has been said are probably the 2 best centres though Percival to be fair has had a bad year injury wise, other than those two there anent many others Id have in front of Carlos or Griffin to be honest.

Tupou
He had one good season, put Carlos in Wigan and Saints side you would see how good he is, hard to be really creative when you are getting passes from Sneyd and Shaul, imagine what he would be like if he played with Coote and Lomax.
Hopefully he will improve further with Connor and Reynolds and a new style of rugby.

We signed Ma'u last year who was an international.
I'd rather judge players on how they play for us rather than the past pedigree.
Who where better players for Hull
Minichello or Pritchard
Mcmenemy or Kearney
Best or Sing
Blacklock or Talanoa

Pritchard was a huge flop probs the top 3 worst value for money signing ive seen in my 25 years supporting FC..... Mini was a great player he wins hands down
Kearney was better was awesome in the year he was here but I thought mcmenemy was very under rated and was a great buy
Best deffo sing was a disappointment
Blacklock out and out try scorer but both good

I know he maybe didn’t hit the heights that he was hyped up to make but he was certainly no flop. At times the guy was just unplayable and one of the big factors in the clubs first ever Wembley triumph and success that season.
Had things been a little different and the coach used him where he was most affective and devastating on the edges he would have had a bigger impact. Even off the field he brought something extra to the team that we lost when he left.
It’s just a shame he was never utilised better but that aside he wasn’t a flop.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |

Sounds about right.
Based on some posters on here, I'm amazed we're not languishing in League 1 (or worse), what a terrible 10 seasons we've just had,
