Imho: I think Powel has great player development skills but I think he seems to lack a little in team and game plan skills. They (Cas) can play some really good stuff at times, but other times they can leave you scratching you head.

| In an ideal world, where finances aren’t precarious, I’d have gone for Wane (to get a grip on the culture of the club) or Fitzgibbon (already said he won’t break his contract, and will end up head coach in the NRL anyway).
I think if there is a change, it will need to be someone who is available, and in the country already (like Tony Smith at the Dobbins).
I wonder if the challenges facing the game will kill off APs energy and enthusiasm for the game. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Is Smith 'available' (wouldn't want him if he was though)

| Not Smith specifically, but someone like that. Available and in the country.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| It amazes me that people still expect that a new coach would jump at the chance of joining us.
Even if such a coach existed, the chances of it happening are nil.

It’s one of the bigger jobs in Super League. Many coaches would relish the chance in a normal situation. Covid has changed everything though financially.

Please explain why they wouldn't?
You know apart from; career progression, the challenge, the quality in the squad we have and potentially increase in earnings, why would anyone want to join us, you're right

Here you go again, there's a pandemic if you haven't noticed, the club is close to bankruptcy and the the future of the whole game is in doubt, who in their right mind would give up a job, move over to Hull and potentially risk everything?
Hope that's clear enough for you.

| Think Last has been given an impossible situation.
He’s been handed someone else’s squad, and no matter what people say it was Radford who had the say in signings and how they played.
Ask Last if he’d have signed a luxury player (Fonua) or another forward

fonds blancs/Sid.gif I have lost interest:fonds blancs/Sid.gif |

| AP should save money and move Last and 1-2 others and SAVE money
We can limp to the end with KP and Gaz
Last has proved he’s not fit to coach at this level
So save cash and give Kp a chance
Of course there’s no way at all AP can hire someone else
No way
The future is totally unclear, only a rich fool would pay a new coach to come in
So let’s save cash and move Last on and hand to KP
If Last stays then again I more and more have to question AP and his judgement

| Who’s to say Purtill would have done any better in the circumstances?
Then we’d have been saying get rid of him and give it to Last.
Like is said previously, we’re paying the price for hanging onto Radford a year too long, and now we’re in a totally different financial situation.

So you're saying a RL coach in rugby league wouldn't move to Hull, another RL Club, playing RL because of risk? Surely all clubs are in a similar situation anyway so why would it matter, the risk seems the same regardless of where you are, so it wouldn't be any more of a risk but down to individual choice.
Also you know not of our financial situation fully and whilst I except the constraints the pandemic has posed for everyone, who knows what next season may bring and/or what cap we may have available, you certainly don't.
AP if he advertises for a new coach he would need to be sure the finances were in place first and foremost so how would that be a further risk for a coach, knowing that the money was there?
They're so many variables at play to accurately assume you know what's occurring.
But in normal circumstances do you think we'd be an attractive proposition or do you still think no one would jump at the chance to coach us?

Oh this might help though;

A deal for the Premier League to support lower-league clubs during the coronavirus pandemic "could be reached this coming week".
Might take a bit of pressure off the government when the RFL try to broker some kind of longer term financial support.
So maybe not all doom and gloom

My argument is based on no money being available in the short to medium term,
and you seem to agree that it could be a factor .... "AP if he advertises for a new coach he would need to be sure the finances were in place first and foremost".
So if there's no money you don't/can't advertise.
If there is money available, then great, but the noises AP is making suggest life is getting very difficult.
Are we an attractive proposition under normal circumstance? If you were a typical Hull supporter, I'd have my doubts.

| If true, that Pearson as not paid any or very little season pass money back, plus had money from 16m government rescue package, plus other government schemes, I’m really not sure Pearson will be that much out of pocket, think we’ve sold a lot of merchandise during the period to. Obviously future income could be a problem depending on what happens with Covid, but think the usual suspects are scare mongering as usual
